• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Out and About (Terra, Strada)

TR650 winter.jpg

Out in early December in the PNW on a small trail I found just off the road. Just bought the bike so not much extra's yet.

Mark, my wife and I really enjoyed your ride report! She said she's never been up to Osmena Peak either.

We went to Moalboal by road on the previous trip (southern coastal route). There are some great mountain roads in Cebu, some paved, some partially paved, some not at all.

Cheers, Yes I do enjoy the mountain roads over here, and the tracks too. I always consider my co-pilot who knows nothing about bikes, roads or rides, but she does like the beautiful scenery and enjoys the fresh air out there too. We choose our rides together and enjoy the fun of exploring new places.

Next one is to do the Cebu Transcentral Highway, the mountain road which runs from Cebu City up over Tops to Balamban then on to Toledo and back to Cebu via Talisay. It is only 134 km total from our house, but will be a good days run, stopping for lunch and pictures etc.

The Transcentral road is good but very windy and to be avoided on weekends due to the number of 'fast bike' and 'quick car' idiots who go up there to burn rubber and create a spectacle, often of themselves when they crash.
IMHO the only thing that spoils riding over here is the other traffic and the idiots who seem to think that because we ride what is termed a 'big bike' here, that we are out for a race and not a gentle scenic ride. I usually get a move on and travel at around 80 or 90 km/hr if the road permits, which to the average 100-125 that they ride, I suppose, is nearly flat out.

Thoroughly enjoy your pictures and I will soon be posting some more too. Now that I have the Cannisterectomy and the De-Cat done, I have a much 'cooler' bike to ride - I also have a new Muvi K2 NPNG Action Camera fitted so it is time to get out on it.

The camera fits perfectly to the bike and the big buttons on the waterproof case mean I can easily control it with gloves on. I have it set at 1080p 60fps so the quality is excellent but files are quite large. I only have Cebu Traffic footage at the moment, but soon we plan to get some mountain road shots too.

I envy you guys that have the weather in your favor. Keep posting so we that are suffering "cabin fever" can stay sane. :>)

I'm doing a big trip in a few months time, and I bought a cheap action cam to see whether I can be bothered filming/editing while I am on holidays in addition to the usual photo taking.
I live in suburbia, on the outskirts of Melbourne, a city of about 4 million people. I am only about 10 minutes ride from the more rural suburbs and farms and countryside.
The video was taken last weekend on roads about 5-10 miles from my house.
I thought I'd post it up just so the people currently suffering through the northern hemisphere winter can see what the sun and blue skies look like :), and a bit of the Aussie landscape and wildlife that i came across.
Maybe next time I'll aim the camera to show less of my helmet  I corrected that in the 2nd half

Hey Nev, you're on the wrong side of the road!

I'm feeling warmer already. BTW, at the very beginning I didn't realize it was a helmet cam, and for a couple of seconds I thought you were performing some megadrifting. :)

Today`s cam placement test drive, cam testing for a change not only in the helmet. Hard snow is cool to drive. :D In some places snow is too soft, such as the video shows :(

The sounds are absolutely terrible, something needs to develop them. External microphone would otherwise be good but the package is not waterproof then

tokar- Feel your pain, in the same boat.

Washington isn't so bad right now about 50, was very tempted to ride around this gate because the road looked great going up the hill and who knows what was on the other side. Might have to go back mid week some time.

I am in the same boat too.
I had my posts awaiting up to two weeks for Moderator Approval and I still cannot PM anyone.
This is making this site difficult for me to use and I find I am now becoming a 'lurker' as I have little or no incentive to post any more.
Over at Adv Rider my posts are 'instant' and I am finding that forum much more useful now.

At last it happened, and I can write without waiting for approval :applause::banana:

Rain TR.jpg

I was inspired by this thread to post pictures of my Terra in scenic locations from my rides around the Philippines....Uh, I don't have any :) I have lots of pictures of my Honda XR 125 in scenic spots and I have these pictures of my TR:

Yard TR - Batangas, Philippines

Waiting for my buddies to come back with my repaired flat - Minduro, Philippines

New Rubbers (always a good idea) Caloocan, Philippines

Rain - Cavite, Philippines

My theory is:
When I'm on the XR, I stop and smell the roses...
When I'm on the TR, I don't stop unless I have to; I was 2 up with the wife, no rain gear, during the rain stop
