  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Yeh the number plate and fender bolt right on as if they were made for it. That was an easy upgrade!

What's even more creepy is the reality that the coal in the pictures started to accumulate in the late 1800's, and stopped accumulating (to the levels you see) in the mid 1950's! The "coal" in the pictures is actually refuse coal that was discarded in the old days because it wasn't the highest quality. Back in those days, they simply threw away "inferior" coal and allowed it to stack up on piles like those in the pics. Some of that coal has been lying around for over 100 years. I rode on those coal banks 35 years ago! They haven't changed except for some erosion and the ruts cut into them by 40+ years of riding. The mines in that area shut down in the mid 50's.
Are you from the area? My Dad is from Centralia and I ride the "coal region' all the time.

Yesterday's ride. Two WB 165's

08 WR250 on the way to Tap2x MX race.... I rode the bike 15 miles through the mountains then let my rider race the bike in this small race... I then rode the bike home a second route and arrived back home just after dark to find my gf locked out of the APT.

New Graphics for my Wr300 (Just got numbers issued - matching graphics, coming.) Ready to start the 2013 AXC series!

That white frame makes the bike look thinner and slimmer ... You guy ever race in LA (Lower AR)?

--

What pipe is on there?

I'm just running the stock pipe but had a custom pipe guard laser-ed out to fit the pipe better (Powder coated it, and a few other things, too)
As far as racing in Lower Arkansas - Heck yea! The AHSCS & AXC racing series take us all over the State. Run a few Hare Scrambles in Tennessee & Missouri, too.

Here's another pic.>

The Lectron carb is in but I've only been able to drive up down our drive way, still no where to ride yet. I can tell you it starts first kick cold and you can turn off the choke right away. I had to lean out the needle 1 1/4 turns from the original setting. The idle screw is now set at 1 1/2 turns out which originally had to be screwed in all the way just to idle. Boy what an easy carb to adjust. With the smooth low idle and responsive throttle I like how it works with the Rekluse so far. From a dead stop the front end can be popped up with out using the clutch lever and before when doing this with the Mikunii you had to be careful of what you would get when cracking the throttle but now with the Lectron I noticed its more predictable. Just my $.02 so far
