    WR = 2st Enduro & CR = 2st Cross

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

All 2st Please post pictures of your 2 stroke bikes.

...so I made my own. Not a single Husky part, but not a single KTM part, either!

A little history...I've been riding my CR 125 with enduro mods in the ECEA enduro series, and it's been great. It's magic in the super tight stick farms, especially with the EFM auto clutch, and the light weight has made me a much stronger finisher than I used to be on my TE300. However, I wanted more low-end with more tractability for the "rock runs" of PA and NY. South Jersey runs have a lot of sand and not a lot of elevation change, so the 125 works great here. Not as great for me in the hills and rocks.

I've heard nothing but good things about the KDX 200 motor for rocks and hills, and when I read about several folks putting that motor into the modern and light-weight KX 125 chassis, I decided to build one for the rocks. It's a 2003 KX 125 with a 1990 KDX 200 motor.

I just finished it, and I think it'll be a great bike for the intended purpose. It was also a lot of fun to build. The whole build story is at KDXrider.net in the KX-KDX hybrid forum.

My apologies to everyone that it's not a Husky--if Husky made one, I'd be riding it!

I also apologize to anyone who has seen these pictures on the other forums I frequent (ECEA, TT, KDXrider)--I'm just so tickled with it I need to share!

Special thanks to Drew Smith at WER who rebuilt and revalved the suspenders. Great service!

I was just over at the ECEA BB, thinking...... Dave has to post this on CH!

My son and I last weekend.

The 125 is new to us/him and a ton of fun already.

Its pretty cool to have a riding buddy who is always ready to go when I am!

It came with the double chamber forks and the 2010 larger gas tank. Bonus!! The forks have a huge range of adjustability, and once dialed in are super plush, yet still ride high in the travel. I will post a complete ride report soon.

I half way wondered that.
Small world.

It looked a lot like the pictures you had of your old bike, but I wasn't sure.

Putting a rear motoz on it this weekend via your store and he and I have been drooling over the other things we'd like to add and do to it.

Its his first 2 stroke and we are loving it.

Thanks for Posting. What a great idea. I have a friend that won't give up on the KX200 but really needs an updated suspension. He blows rear shocks pretty much every race.

:applause:
Nice work - how does it go ? I had a kdx 200 - back in the day - great bike - I have an article of building a KX 125 for the woods too never seen them combined - good work

The KX-DX goes VERY well--super nimble, and loads of bottom-end. It feels as light as my CR 125 when flicking through tight stuff, but it'll storm out of a slow corner without clutch abuse. I love it.

Unfortunately, I am in the midst of rebuilding the motor--I managed to sieze it on a fire road. I didn't originally rebuild the bottom end, and I think I have an air leak in the main seals. I was hoping to give it its enduro debut at the Broad Mountain Enduro in PA this weekend, but there's no way I'll have it back together in time. Now I'm shooting for the Shotgun Enduro (ha!) June 20.
