  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Post up pictures of your 4 stroke bikes!

Very cool looking SMR (or converted TC?)! Out of interest, what oil catch tank are you running?

Just finished putting it back together after getting a bunch of parts powdercoated and forks/shock revalved. Now I have to get the seat recovered in black leather and suede and i'll be good to go.

I like that. Looks purposeful and clean. That tank is really not bad at all on the bike and hey, you only have to put as much in it as you need. Cool bike.

The oil catch in made by Toxic Moto. This one is a prototype but they will be in production soon. And it is a converted TC. Went with the TC for racing needed every last pony!

I make the 511 look small haha.

Our race bike at the Jean, NV night race. You can see Ricky Barbec's factory Kawasaki fender on the left lol.

TE511 -v- Beta 520 RS. Seems like a toss up but also sounds like if they have comparable tires the 511 would have won. Both great bikes that tied this review but the husky lists for $400- $800 less and can usually be had for a far better price.

The Husky is hands down better than the Beta, there is no question. The only real competitor to the te511 is the 500exc.
I like this article: http://cyclenews.coverleaf.com/cyclenews/20120403#pg45 Though they favor the ktm, at least they swapped out the tires on the 511 for a better comparison.

I have ridden several new 500exc's (spent a good part of one nasty day riding one up all the nasty hills for a dude) and they are nice. Feels like a more powerful KTM 350 to me. Good bikes but for the money the Husky is still tops IMHO. And the new KTM fenders do not like the NW cold, the front ones are snapping off like cheap kites.

heres a couple pics of my 2012 te449 with its new graphics.
its just had all the suspension re-done by spmx to suit my weight and riding conditions.
ive changed the front sprocket to a 14 tooth and have a 53 tooth husqvarna special part rear sprocket on its way along with a few bits of other special parts bling
