• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Post up pictures of your vintage Husqvarna bikes!

finally....the rebuilding starts - I put my seat together and got it and the tank onto the frame today.....really loving the way it's looking too

I am planning to have the tank painted red but can't afford that at the moment so I just gave the tank a bit of a stell wool scrub and applied some vinyl Husky decals......

and I thought I'd post this next pic again because it so sexy :-) (and vicious, check out the teeth on those things.....)

This should be on the projects thread so I can get subbed and get a regular update. Looks very stylish.:)

Cool.. lots of trick stuff there!!! So I just bought my 430 cr in my avatar. I wanted to know about the fox forks. .. What info do you have on it? I just wondered since I don't know about servicing or anything. Got any basic info or somewhere I might get some info on it? I literally just got the bike and researching. The guy I bought it from knows nothing about dirt bikes. His wife bought it for him for a "project" when he was deployed.. he just came back and he's a street bike guy. It went on craigslist and I was the first to show up. My bike has the same rear pro circuit fender and I think a 18" 2.75" rim with stainless spokes. The fox factory forks has what looks like a honda or yamaha dual cam drum brake but I'm really not sure. It reminds me of the old 465 type yamaha front brake hubs but I'm not clear on that though .
There is nothing special about the Fox Forx except they are big, burley conventional forks. They don't have cartridge internals, dual chambers or anything like that. They are just big, beefy forks. That being said they work quite well and deliver a decent ride. As far as servicing there is not much to do except change the seals if they leak and keep your fork oil fresh. I had good results using ATF for fork oil filled 5 1/2" from the top of the tubes with the forks collapsed and the springs removed.

sure mate, sounds like a good idea, but would you mind sparing me a couple of minutes to message me some basic instructions on how I can link the posts I have done so far to a Projects thread, then I will post the rest of the progress in that one instead..... I have never used forums until I joined this one so I am almost clueless when it comes to forum best practises etc.

thanks !

Will mail you tomorrow, sat with a sloe gin after a long day now

Seeing as these are 44mm tubes just order 44mm metric seals from any local seal and bearing supply house. There is nothing special about them. Remove the rubber dust cover from the sliders and look down at the seals. There should be some numbers on the seal itself probably like 44 x ---. Those are the numbers indicating the size of the seal,(44mm internal diameter x whatever the external diameter is). Those are the numbers you will use to get the proper size seal.

all pics 325.JPG Just finished up my swap meet $200 special.Wish I took a before pic.It was rough, but the motor was solid.A lot of blasting and painting and picking parts out of my Husky stash. Now it's time to get it muddy.

Wow, a well spent $200 I'd say...looks great. P.S. don't forget to paint that kickstand. The most overlooked part of any bike. It doesn't make it go fast or stop well or handle better....but darn handy to have.

A couple of pics of my '75 250. Complete novice to Huskies and riding dirt bikes but at the age of 41 decided to give it bash! Managed 3 race meetings this season but hopefully more next season.

Very nice Colin. Will probably see you out and about next year. Which end of the country are you, North or South ?

I'm in Edinburgh. Furthest south I get is Thornhill in Dumfries which is our biggest meeting. I did get down to Kendal for the Nostalgia as a few friends were racing. Once I get a bit more confident in my abilities I consider an entry for there!!

Guys, am looking for some pics of 125 1986 to see the swingarm and rear brake....
I am around the same bike and I dont know if those parts were different from a WR model.
I know someone of you can help me.
Thanks in advance.
