  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Questions/thoughts on 2011 TE 310

AA Class
So I've developed an irrational desire for this bike!

I'm hoping this would be an excellent bike for racing cross country, enduros, and doing an occasional dual sport or trail ride ... mostly in Oregon (wet side).

I'm an "A" enduro racer with most time on KTMs (300, 200, 525), also a WR450F and YZ250F.

I'm thinking of this as the YZ250F with an extra gear, electric start, more plush suspension, a bit more power, and a license plate! So hoping it would be overall a better offroad bike.

Some questions so far:

Gas Tank - still seems small. Looks like about 2.2 gallons, and aftermarket gets you to 2.9? And you don't run the beautiful red tank shrowds anymore? Since the 2011 isn't listed yet, what 2010 tank should work? The 2010 TXC-250?

Is this like a 200 hour top end bike? Or might it need attention before that?

I assume the silencer is a spark arrestor and a "keeper"? Or is it a heavy cat silencer that gets super hot and stifles performance? (Had a SM-610, know that deal :) )

Any guesses on the suspension? I'm 160 lbs so I don't usually need to change springs. Would this be comprable to a KTM 300 XCW suspension?

Any other guesses at what might be needed to make it race ready? (not the generic stuff like hand gaurds or skid plate, but Husqvarna 310 specific?)

Thanks!

The 2011 310's being purchased by our Euro friends come with the 2.9 gal tank as stock! Accessory-wise, I would expect most of the 2010 txc 250 stuff would fit as it is nearly the same bike but with lights and bore/stroke increase. Read budweiserfroggy's report on his newly purchased 310, he's from Ireland and post here regularly. This bike is looking pretty sweet and I think Husky could sell a boatload of them if the supply is there!

same thing happened last year with the TXC250s,didnt send enough in the first batch and guys went with something else

I have the 2010 TE 310. The new bike is about 12 pounds lighter. If it is only 1% better it will be brilliant. I understand it is better but with more of a true enduro mid top end bit c/w the older motor. This gives it real flexibility. I love my 310 and would/will certainly replace it with the new one when time is right. Top end would probably not be significantly stronger than your YZ, however it will have a better over all power band plus an extra gear and electric leg.

Good choice IMHO.

I sold my 2007 200XC to get the money for my 2010 TE 310 I just picked up. I have owned 4 KTM 300's over the years and my Dual Sport is a 2007 KTM 525 ( a keeper)..........So I am alot like you in the bikes I have ridden/enjoyed.

I loved my 200, hands down one of the best woods bikes around. Plenty of power and dead reliable. Only issue, a smoker and more and more it is getting hard to register and run smokers in Enduro's unless they are nationals (closed course). Anyway, I decided it was time for a new race/woods bike and wanted something that was DOT legal so I didn't have to argue with the NJ State Trooper in transfer sections! (Event though I had valid registration, plate, insurance for my 200)

The 2010 TE310 is AWESOME. It has good low end, feels lighter than the 235 lbs (2011 is ~11 LBS LIGHTER). Steers well and is laid out very nice. Easy access to valves for checks and adjustments. Quality parts and good Husky engineering.

The only bad part I can find, no adjustable tripmeter for enduro's or DS rides. Easily fixable as I run a ICO anyway, but still.....ONLY PLACE KTM WINS IS THE SPEEDO/UNIT.

I could have waited and got the 2011 with the newer X-lite based motor, but the 09/10 got such rave reviews and I race for pleasure, so I got one of the many smoking deals out there right now on a new 2010.

Like the ghte says, if it is even only 1% better it is a GREAT bike. All I did was install the Husky RACE ECU (H80002002) and had the power up kit installed and this thing runs like a champ.

Okay fuel range is about 50-60 miles on the stock tank and IMS has a 2.9 out there, so like alot of bikes, that is easily fixed as well.

I have always loved my Euro trash and have been riding KTM's more so than Huskies, but now my heard is even with 2 and 2 and the Huskies are getting the nod more and more.

My personal opinion, the aluminum in the Husky motor is better than that in the KTM's. The KTM's are a little "softer' and you really have to be careful to not over torque the KTM bolts in the engine cases than the Husky. And the looks? Husky's are dead sexy!

Silencer, a keeper, made by Arrow and quite well made. Top end like any other modern 4-stroke. Stay on the oil and valves and she will live a long and prosperous life.Suspension is a little softer than my XC was, but for your weight, should be perfect as the suspensions in Huskies are tuned for ~170lb rider (average Euro guy, not fat ass americans like me)

Make it race ready? Power up kit (included), good tires, mine came stock with DS tires but my shop replaced them for the cost of swap (50 bucks) and the usual bark busters, skid plate and radiator protection, in other words, like any other bike.........

This thing will be a very competent Enduro or Dual sport ride. I am in love.........

2011 te 310 ride

have just ridden the new 2011 te310 and its a great bike very similar to my 2010 te250 but with a bit more bottom end :applause:....one thing that i did note is it has a bottom end bog/flat spot i thought thay would have sorted it out knowing that the early 2010 te250 had the same problem .......i can see it now with post,s saying help my new 310 has a bog of idle ...come on husky would have thought you would have got it sorted by now :excuseme:...with fueling issues aside this bike is great and will have to play with fueling

That's why I went with the Husky race ECU for the 310 (Husky part #H80002002), it is spot on fueling and no need for an additional box like a PC V or a JD box. With this ECU, it is clean from bottom to top and was only 200 bucks. I would highly recommend one to any 2010 TE 310 rider for sure. My dealer even had it in stock :)

the older motor never had a problem with a flat spot off idle, the new X-motor has this issue, doesnt matter when they released the bikes, ive tried four or five TXC and TEs and they all have the same bog no matter who has tuned them

No bog at all on my 2011 te310. :D
Powered up & with short exhaust baffle.
Had the 2010 te250 before. This is a big improvement and seems to have ironed out the first year x-lite motor issues.

How loud is the 2011 TE310? I had planned on buying the US version of the TE250 for 2010 but it was way too loud for recreational riding. I am hoping Husky quieted the bike down for 2011. US models should come with a 2.9 gallon tank standard so I don't have to spend $300 to get decent fuel range.

You mention a 2.9 gallon tank, well i don't understand gallons it was a bit before my time, we went to the metric system in the 1970's.
But i can tell you my bike has the 8.5 Litre tank as opposed to the 2010 having a 7 Litre tank.

That's a 0.4 gallon US increase (1.5 liters).

Man, I hope it's bigger than that..... The 2010 x-lite bikes have 1.9g stock, IMS makes a 2.9 gal currently available for the x-lite bikes. Now I'm wondering if Budweisergrogie's stock tank is not the same as the IMS available as aftermarket for 2010's. Looks very similar.

Budweiserfrogie, regardless of age Google can convert ANYTHING for you. Last time I visited the UK (Scotland), miles was the unit of distance. Not very metric.

Apologies Budweiserfrogie, I honestly got mixed up with your neighbors to the North. :o

This tank thing is interesting and I'm glad we've got your input for facts about the bike!
