  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Recommended Oil for TXC310R 2013

motul 7100 is $90 for 5Litres, bloody expensive.
i am also worried as its 10/60 and what the bike specs ?
we ride from about 5 deg on really cold days here to 40 degrees peak summer.
ive just bought a gallon of this but will drain it and not use it if its going to be a drama ??

what about these ?

That looks alot like what is sold here :0) ... The ones with 0W are about ~$20 per liter. Not sure on that Helix ...

These are in 3 out of 4 of my bikes ... The last one is my efi racer(?) bike and is not gonna be ridden a great deal here so I'm in no real hurry to change it over.. Plus I have about 8 paper elements, making about ~16 oil changes ...

yeah its too dear and i hope i havent wasted my dough, I'll wait on tinkens advice to see f he thinks i should drop it out and use it on something else(can I use it on my car, 500hp falcon turbo :) ??

Shell Helix Ultra, very nice!
In order to compete with Exxon Mobil 0W40, Shell (Standard Oil) created Helix Ultra 5W40. It is very comparable and in some cases slightly higher grade.

I'll look closer at it next time out ... Shell products are everywhere on this island ... Don't remember seeing this Helix stuff in the states but maybe it is over there somewhere?

Standard oil? (1870)... There's some USA history ...

Yes, not some good history. Helix 5W40 ultra is propitiatory to Chrysler here in the states. Used in the Dodge Viper.

Chrysler? Business makes strange bed-partners sometimes :)

Yep on the history .. As soon as I put those words on paper and sent it out, I got a flash of our ~oil history ... Might be 'serial oil history' as we are still making\living 'oil' history at this moment on a world scale... This black gold, texas tea, dominates this rock we live on today. It does its' job well and not easy to replace ... ELEC is its biggest threat?

So are you saying the Helix is ok to run in the 310?

Rotella T6 seems to work really well in my XT1200. One would think it would be a good alternative to consider if the others mentioned were unavailable.

Just my 2c! Because bike clutches are wet, don't they slip more using motor oil which where designed to run in engines that do not have wet clutches?

Tinken Just want to be clear..Two questions #1 I heard it has to be Euro spec mobile1 0w-40 is that correct? And #2 will this work with my Core EXP rekluse clutch?

Thanks for all your help...my stainless filter arrived in the mail today. Hopefully you guys will get the oil return plugs in soon!!

I can't speak for Huskywood but I installed one on my '14 TXC 310 about three months ago and love it. I followed the directions and had to make two small adjustments after breaking it in but I can't be happier. It really smoothed out my riding in the tight stuff because I don't worry about stalling it. When I first got the 310 I geared it down to help but, since installing the Rekluse I put the stock gearing back in it and haven't looked back. You will lose the engine breaking, it's more like a two stroke, but I was use to that so it didn't bother me. I've got a good 5 or 6 hours on it since the last time I adjusted it and have no problems. One word of caution is don't over adjust it just make small moves. It takes a little break in.

Australians should get to supercheap auto, 20% off everything! I got 5L of helix ultra(5/40) for $51.00. Bought two of them for the next 10 oil changes ! :)

Had changed the oil after it's first ride with the motul 7100 I had previously bought, it's 10/60 and I think the gear selector feels really notchy , maybe in my head as I was wearing trainers and was heading to Aquatics house to get him to make a counter shaft billet cage.

So, maybe in my head but I'll dump it out when I get the bike back even though it's been in there for just 5 miles.
