• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Round two of the "other" carb types - Lectron

FWIW -- I am riding now at between 5000' and 9000' with temps in the 80s to 90s [much different than 40s at 3000' to 5000']. Carb runs good. My PJ is COMPLETELY shut off. Not even cracked open. Find I don't need it at all in the mountains. At 3000' I had it open a 1/2 turn.

Although the bike was running good, I felt that these three things could be better: 1. I was getting a bit of spooge [not a lot, but it was a bit wet and had a little drool running down the silencer; 2. Fuel economy was a bit down, not much but a little; 3) felt a little down on power in the bottom, off idle area. Therfore, I felt that I was approaching the limits of the Lectrons "altitude compensation" so I leaned it out 1/4 turn. No good - too lean and I couldn't get the idle smooth and it bogged when I twisted the throttle too fast. So I put it back and it runs well. Mid and top are just fine. No hesitations but doesn't feel particularly crisp on the very bottom -- Have to move the idle up a bit during the day as it warms [which makes sense as the air density decreases]. So -- I am pleased with carb. Just wish I could clean up the very bottom end a bit to take care of the spooge [which I didn't have with my PWK and the lean needle], clean up the burble and my fuel economy is a bit down.

Any suggestions? I am still happy with it -- just looking for perfection.

Try 1/8th turn :)
And are you maybe running out of oxygen yourself? Can't be too many o2 molecules upp there!
Sounds like a great ride.
Good luck.

what rod and bike configuration again? Maybe you need the MS-3 rod.

Hmm -- I will have to check what rod is in it. I thought it was a "3-1" -- can't remember the letters before it though. I will check and see. My instincts are that I need a leaner rod all the way through the range.

Yes 3-1XL is what usually ships.

Riding my 165 with 38mm Lectron at a MX circuit today. I had a problem when the bike was revved to full throttle wide open. The problem is the bike felt like it cut out for a second, but when I slightly closed the throttle still riding the bike it would return to normal running. It kept doing this all day even after I turned the power jet out to maybe 4 turns. The bike idles fine, mid to high-ish revs are very good and it run all day with out any other problems. Any ideas or suggestions?........I was riding about 75metres above sea level

Hey Spud,

I agree with Tim, you need the MS-3 rod and the shorter PJ tube. You can modify your own tube but easier to just get one pre-cut to the right size.

I have exactly the same symptoms, and don't have the MS-3 rod yet.
Any news on their availability?

I had the same symptom. I finally had a chance to try the new rod and tube. Problem solved. I did have to screw the new rod in further than the old by about 3 full turns.

I'm assuming this screwing in the rod is some tuning information to stop the problem I've had. Do you know how much (mm) from the thread of the rod to its tip is in use?

any news or updates on a Lectron for the 610?

yes, we have it running really good. Quite rideable and smooth. We are addressing a slight black smoke issue when whacking the throttle sitting still which is kinda a non issue to me but trying to dial out. I would say it is a very good product as is. Let me know if you want one and I'll work you a deal on one and work with you on tuning it if need be.

Like I siad on Email 48.5 mm from the tip of the rod tot he part it screws into seems to be a good starting point. Adjust to what you like from that point.

Can I not ask how other riders have there bikes set up. However if 48.5mm is the only setting that everyone should use then my apologises.
