  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Safari is going to do it!! 4 - 4.5 gallons

15k in mold costs? I'd rather tig up an aluminum tank at that point. My guess is this tank is going to look bad on the 450-510's. Price is pretty steep too.

Not just Mold costs as the plan had incorparte setting up a small business as well ;)
Bit of a hobby t start with but alas I leave it to the professionals and just enjoy riding
:)

Nice to see some one else making a tank, but for me 12liters is still to small. I would like to see a 20 liter tank.

20ltr is a good idea but with that kind of weight dont you think it would be better distributed across the bike, like say the rear side panel tank (opposite side of the exhaust)?

Its all good news, now lets wait for the pics :)

Im still waiting to hear of it will fit the TXC models (510) If not I have to move to another bike (brand) as its just too hard.

Fingers crossed as I want to take the Husky to next seasons Baja :)

The Safari Tank will fit the 08 TE 250 efi and the 08 to 10 TE310 450 510 efi's, not the carb models.
It will also fit the SM fuel inj models.
The 610 will probably be for the later fuel inj models.
i would like a rear tank too if your reading this Robin, but its down to demand I guess.

Take whatever commitment date they offer and add 6-9 months to it,........just like the BMW G450 tanks and several other niche tanks they've developped lately.

It would be very easy to make a plate to convert a FI tank to a carbed tank,.........not so easy the otherway but it's been done. George at Uptite made an external pump modification I believe.

I think your right, maybe they sniffed a little guy getting in first and thought they would bluff their way to put him off producing it so they dont loose market share on this model. Not exactly a competitive market with only 3 major players making decent tanks for bikes.
Hmmm

Why cant I we get one for the 09 TXC250's****************************************

If it fits the '08 and up EFI 310,450 and 510, it will certainly fit a 2009 TXC 250. Just need to attach a plate where the fuel pump would go. Heck, find a broken fuel pump, hog out the internals so it will flow fuel freely, stick it in your tank and run a line to your carb. A little heavier than fabbing your own block-off plate, but likely easier. Despair not!

WOW!

Anyone know whats up w/ Safari Tanks USA?

Went to their site to see if there were any updates on the large fuel tanks and the site no longer exists!

www.safaritanksusa.com
If that does not work...

But that one does... that means their site is not set up correctly.

GREAT news about the tank though, depending on cost of course. :)
