  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

HOLY COW!!!
Suprised they didn't continue and make the sidepannels and rear fender part of the tank... :D That's alot of tank! Glad for the guys that have a need for it Mexico Alaska Austrailia etc.... I personally wish they made a good mid sized like 2.5gallon or 10liter a "confident" 60-70 mile range is nice for me. Looks like quality stuff. I like the fact that they left room at the steering head to not restrict dampeners and possibly not having to turn out steering stops.

I am with you huskynxjnwi if someone made a 2.5 gallon tank I would buy it. That tank is a little to big for me. It should fill the need for some people. Nice work.

From earlier posts, it was suggested that Clarke was going to produce a plastic version of the P3 Carbon Fiber tank which is truly the tank that would fit my needs. Has anybody heard an update regarding this project?

I too agree that this new Safari tank is a cool option, but it is a bit much for my riding style.

Is this still in the works ?

I mean; are we next ???

I've been a bit confused with the safari tanks.

Do they saddle on top of the stock and it's essentially an aux tank or do they replace it?

A 5gal tank for my 610 would rule.

Safari tank

Tank replaces the stock tank.

I spoke with the www.justgastanks.com people thismorning, and was told there are pickups inside the tank to access the fuel in the low portions on the sides.

I am very much looking forward to this tank, my bike hits low fuel at 70 km which is truly ridiculous for the kind of riding I like.

Also received this email from Safari on June 29:

Hello Brian,

We are happy to take your per-order for a Husky 510 Tank.
The tank is 6-8 weeks from completion and we have our first test tank event
next weekend. It will hold 17Lt of fuel. I have attached our first photos of
the tank so you can have a look at what it will be like.

Thanks,
Andrea

Good looking tank, I like the lines they put on it.

What's also great with the oversized tanks is that they greatly protect the radiator, negating the need for guards most of the time.

Was 17l the one for the 610? 4.4gal isn't bad, still may do it, but 5+ would have been my ideal.

The stock tank is only getting me 90miles or so fuel light to fuel light. That's shorter than my typical weekend rides so it's making me a bit crazy as I hate dealing with gassing up so often. Still haven't put the Power Commander in tho. Hoping that helps my mpg.

Its not on general sale yet, this is PP (joys of been a distributor), much better in the flesh, the pics dont do it justice.
Narrower than the stock shrouds at the front, plent of room for your Scotts and Ohlins and the stock cap does fit nicely!
the majority of the fuel is kept low down, a lot lower than stock which is great for handling.
No extra pumps the stock pump catches all the fuel. They have run the tank empty! R&D works!
I'll let you know when I have it fully plumbed in and been for a ride.

Excellent brock! Thanks for the photos. Tank looks like a winner. Do you have clutch side profile pic?

Its a complete replacement, not an auxiliary tank.

Its a Translucent tank.
It feels really good to ride with initialy, not too wide, you can still get your foot out!
I need to get out on the trail now.

You can see the fuel through the plastic.

I dont have a very good clutch side shot.
The pump is down on the RHS and the fuel works its way across with the movement whilst riding.

Looks really good

I think the red tank would look the best with my '08 black side panels. I need to stop buying the $10 micro six packs and get a red 1.

I think it looks awesome. Much better than the IMS. It has the clean futuristic looks of our bikes. I was thinking that might be to large for me but I dont know now, This looks to good to pass up.
