As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Read up on the the 690 before you buy. I've read the the FI on the 690 is kind of snatchy on-off throttle.

Should I look at the ktm 690 then?
Might take you up on that. Already have a wr300.
Basically i want something dirt orientated that i can freeway once in a blue moon without being miserable on it. I was looking at an f800gs for a while but frankly my dirt roots wouldnt like the heavy bulkiness street only feel of it. I was also thinking of a husaberg 570 too.
You are more than welcome to sample my TE5411 and see if it fits the bill. what are you looking to do. I have done lots of 100 plus mile days on it DSing and it is great. Also several 200 plus miles days. Great bike. About to do 300 plus mile weekend on it.
There was a run of them but now in R&D to create a new model with the BMW/rotax 650 mill. Look for a TE650 soon. It will be a dirty Strada.
Should I look at the ktm 690 then? I already have a wr300 for trails that's duel sported...but...lol it's not a fun duel sport. I want something I can hit the freeway in a pinch, hit an occasional trail, be a once a month commuter and fire road explorer. there's a gazillion zippy roads with dirt roads right out my front door to so...

Is a dirty Strada (the Terra) going to be comparable to the te630? Will it fill that role as nicely?
Most of us don't think so, but there are a lot of fans for that motor. I think the key will be what weight it comes in at. Somebody quoted 340lbs dry and that would be do-able. We'll just have to see. My thinking is that it's gonna come in closer to what the Sertao is.
I'm sure it will be a nice bike. Just not sure it's going to be the same thing as the (now) old TE630 with the Italian mill.
You found two......more than most people find. Either one, whomever gives you the best deal I would say. BTW, Hope you find this place as helpful as I did when I was looking for answers.
