As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Probably...Does this mean you're going to do a full breakdown report of re-greasing the Swing Arm linkage with pictures and everything.![]()
After a lot of debate, I decided to go with the SW-Motech plate. I emailed Twist Throttle earlier this week, they said it would be in next week. Then I ordered and got a date a bit farther out. Here's there latest. I suspect there's a boat involved. There's all sorts of vendor stuff that frees up in the next month or so, looking forward to seeing the farkle updates.

The skid plate worked great!!!
Jones Creek, just north of Camas.Looks good, where did you take the picture?
The Sw-Motech design is unique (I think) in that it uses the rear engine mounting bolt to attach.
Yes, but be careful with the Touratech. The RH rear arm has a sharp edge that can cut into the casing if it rotates up. You must trim the sharp edge at an angle so it clears the casing. I also added some washers on the mount to push it farther outboard. I was able to burnish out the small cut I got in the casing. I would not recommend using a lift or a stand under the skid plate.Touratech mounts in a similar fashion.

Nice write up Krussell. Thx.
Mine arrived today will mount this weekend if I got time.
Have you tried the SW-Tech skid plate with a lift yet?

Did not try my jack. It's a sears "Yellow Jack" motorcycle lift, I think it will work fine. On the road for work for a week, but will try it when I get home. I see no reason that it won't 'just work.'
