  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

So is Pro-Form the best pipe out there?

Hey Picklito,
After i get my new PWK from J.D.Jetting put on my 430 i want to take it to Eric at maicos only to build me a pipe.

Maybe we can get a better price on a multiple pipe order.

Darrell

Oh I'm certain if we could bring in a bike and say "make 5 pipes" or some number, the price would be better. What would be even better is if the pipe builders could keep the measurements so we could just order one in the future without having to bring the bikes back.

I don't personally need any 250 pipes.
Only pipe I 'need' right now is for an 83 430 buildup. Would buy one of those right away. But I might be willing to buy some spares for the 81/82 & 83 430's in order to get the builders "interested."

pipe

Pro-form already makes 81-82 430 pipes and silencer combos. The shop is located in Ontario Cal... One he makes 1, he will have records to make more. I am a dealer for him, not sure about price breaks, I think it would be about 20 at 1 order.

Geoff Morris (GMC) in Australia, also makes a pipe for '81/'82 CR430 Huskys . The bike pictured above, with one of his pipes, was featured in VMX magazine issue # 29.

Thanks. It's nice to know whose pipe that is. That 430 picture gets circulated around often and I never knew. Looks great.

After seeing Leftcoast`s pipe crack from rubbing on his tank at the races on Sunday i am going to bring my bike in so that everything has proper clearance and fitment.I talked to alot of racers at the track and everyone raved about the Pro-form pipes!
One guy even brought his pipe back a couple of times until he got just the right power band for his 1974 125 husky! Now that is customer service.

Hey HWY,
See the air box sticker on the 430 with the red tank above?

That is the air box cover sticker i was asking if you had earlier.

Nope, I do not have. Anyone have an original to work from?

All- I have said before that that I prefer the PF pipe but forgot to reiterate that I was running a smaller tank ('80) so clearance wasn't an issue. HiDez is correct, mine rubs with the "guppy" tanks and even after pounding a nice flat spot in it it still rubs so it's back to the smaller one. Tell Eric to drop the height by 1/2" and he'll have a winner.

Here's a shot with the Vintage Iron pipe on my 430 from 2 years ago. Note you'll have to fab/figure out your own silencer solution as Rick D. doesn't sell one (that I'm aware of at least). Again, it's well made and works just fine.

RE...

Where can I purchase a new 1983 430WR pipe for my new woods racing project?
I have purchased several used ones to find that they don't fit or they are stress cracking all over the place. I modified an 82 430 pipe to fit, but it too has the stress cracks. It is a nickel plated pipe. I live in Wisconsin so bringing the bike to Cali is not an option.
Help!
