• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TC 500

Man the more I look at that bike the more I want it. Aluminum airbox? Cool shocks. Cant place the front end, looks almost Yamaha but not. 80's RM maybe? nice.

...More fun here...!!!

That 510 is 102 or 104 kg weight.......many parts in titanium also....she looks so beautiful, right ?
These Germans are simply great !!!

Just to let everybody knows: my nickname RUF is a tribute to the best Porsche Tuner in the world ( to me, obviously...) Mr Alois Ruf in Pfaffenhausen Germany !!!
...

no, it s not just the cover of the cluth, it s a complete 610/570 gearbox with big crankshaftbearings ang big clutchbasket. Husky fourstrokes have always the same stroke, just different bores for 500/610. Did the same works to mine.
The latest version of this engine made a belgium specialist, installed is a husaberg piston (think a bigger bore for more ccm) and porting the head and Keihin carb. .... the full programme. Think they are over 60 european hp.
I m using a stock cylinder and head from a 85 TC. I m not such a fast rider needing all this stuff.

hey RUF ... are You from Germany? knowing the Kaltenbergs and Porschetuner Ruf? :-):-)
the shocks they use looks like Wilbers full adjustable, this manufaktur is building shocks for every vehicle, very good stuff think better than öhlins but not so expensive. I m using a mono from them in my suzuki DR 650, it works very well.
The forks they use could be marzocchi 45/50 look at the link from RUF and look at the details.

No Jens I am Italian but LOVE german stuff and people !!
I had a real RUf Posche 3.2, a rocket on the street !!!
I was trained at Sachs Factory in Schwainfurth when I was young and from then I enjoy working around the best mechanic....
I know Kaltemberg because I bought a frame from them and I am making a copy of their racing Husky....with a standard engine.
The engine has been prepared by Flavio Solda' in Italy. You know him ?

ah soo .. You re the frame expert from Italy ... they re writing about You and the the frame You built for them at their page.
I don t know Flavio Solda ... but sometimes I m looking at his page. Here at the German Forum they wrote about an Belgium expert preparing the engines.

Kaltember uses Marzocchi 50mm fork and front Yamaha brake. The entire front is a kind of masterpiece to me. So clean and so perfect ! The air filter box is handmade in aluminum and that is another masterpiece.
I will got in Germany in March to pick up my frame and other spares. As soon as I will put my hands on those things I will post more pics. Promise.

86 TE was not liquid cooled. First LC was 1987. 86 was same frame as 87 except no radiator mounts.

RUF, please tell me, did You change the fronttube of the frame? usually it s asymetric .. but this looks like a symetric one from a fourstroke ?!

Jens, the front tube is asymmetric for the 2 stroke. Symmetric for the 4 stroke...
The following pics are from a monoshock frame for an aircooled 510 but I guess the frame with the twin shocks is the same in the front part
I have some other frames to check but now I need resting, excuse me

Jens.
I know in your country Herr Kaltemberg made this wonderfull lightweight with a similar frame.

I like some tuning on bikes ( everybody can do what he wants) . There's a lot of
work on it the Kaltemberg 510 ( nice job )but is a long way from the original vintage 510 (Ruwfo's 510 by exemple).
( Marzocchi 45 or 50 mm fork 1995-96 ?, shocks, side panels, etc...

to PEZberg
of course 86 fourstroke came liqiud cooled .. it was basicly a 85 mono with ugly black shrouds instead of the white small one from aircooled. It came in july 86. In summer 87 came the second liquid cooler with a new link for the shock and a black gastank covered by big white shrouds. TC s with wp usd and enduro with the fork from 86. Rode them all.

Jan Ries see below page from the 1986 spare parts manual. The first LC model may have been released in 86 but it was the 87 model. The black tank was the 88 model released in 87 in some markets not doubt. Still happens today 2014 models released in 2013 etc. Also four strokes were using black tank one year after 2 strokes. In my opinion the 87 with black radiator shrouds is the most elegant looking Husky 4 stroke.
