  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE450 runs rough after fall

Jamnsam

Husqvarna
A Class
I have a 2008 TE450 with the factory power upgrade, arrow exhaust etc.

The bike has always started first go with no choke needed and runs great. Sometimes it is a little hard to start when it is hot but only needs 2-3 presses of the starter button.

One thing has me confused though. Every time I drop the bike which is mostly while going slow it usually stalls. I picked it up within 30 seconds or so and it starts straight away.

When I start riding however there is a drop of power low in the rev range and then a sudden burst when it "clears its throat" and takes off. But whenever you dip low down in the revs it continues to bog down. The only way I can eliminate it, is if I stop the bike and leave it on level ground for 10 minutes or so.

When I start it again it is back to normal. Has anyone else had similar problems and if so how can I avoid it? Although I am getting better at riding I'm still falling off every 15 minutes. It makes for a sow trip.

Thanks.

Where is your cranck case breather vent routed too? Does it still fee into the airbox? If so after a fall you could be getting oil into the throttle body bogging things down.

maybe on the rich side of the settings and its getting a little hot so its stumbling at consistent low speeds. Idle could be set a tad low as well.

Oh, that knob is not a choke (not an enrichener)- it just increases revs at startup to warm up easier- I never use it.

maybe something to do with your cam chain tensioner... it is supposed to automatically tension the chain by using a spring and a rod with some teeth on it.. so the spring pushes the rod (tensions the cam) and the teeth prevent the rod from moving backwards (loosening the cam tension). however, sometimes the teeth get rounded and dont hold the rod in as they are supposed to.

when i fire my bike up, it runs very poorly for 15-20 seconds then... the sound of the engine changes dramatically. this is the sign that the cam chain tensioner has locked in place.

does this make any sense... pull out your CCT and see if the teeth are rounded. maybe get a MCCT??
