  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE511 FMF powerbomb, I'm not worthy...

When you do finally get your insert out, drill a small hole in it, 6-8mm, closer to the end, you can hook your spring puller into it easier.

He's an old man, probably never revs his bike over 6k. Should be easy to outrun. ;):D
Actually I meant to say everyone loses me before we leave the parking lot lol. I don't mean to brag but I'm 6th in points in our C250 class (no one really does all 8 rounds :)). So he wouldn't have the chance to leave me in the trail lol

I use a spring puller, basically a T handle with a long hook at the end.
Yeah it has the little hole. I need like a slide hammer that hooks in there or something. just straight 'pulling' isn't moving anything, but I'll get it out one way or another.

Do you know if the stock TE silencer insert can be purchased, I can't find a part number for just it.

Success!!
I think my DB meter on my cell phone reads a little low but it says around 75db at idle right on the bike, and about 83-85 barking the throttle. Seems low, but it is definitely quieter than before.

The TE insert is about .2 smaller than the quiet core fmf insert

I'll know more tomorrow when I ride but I doubt it will be a perceptible difference (over the original quiet core insert). Maybe if I was running just the pipe with the loud insert.

I did a quick ride around my yard with no helmet and it was almost quiet as stock until I whacked the throttle. Still barks a little like that but just driving its really nice and not loud.

Checked the Autotune and it is pulling a little bit of fuel 1-5 % so its definitely more restrictive, but I don't care at all. In most of the singletrack stuff I use 10% of the available power and the dirt road stuff can only go full throttle for a few seconds.

Question - the megabomb header - is the size different where the muffler pipe fits onto it? I'm wondering if I can fit that header to my current pipe that is for a TE

The end of the megabomb does not end up in the same place as the end of the stock TE header.
