  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Yack! You need a Hyde.

let us know what it does to the power please.
Went for a good ride today and the Autotune didn't pull any fuel out under full throttle, and pulled a little but added a little in other places every where else. So overall no reduction in power at all. Still pulls 3rd gear wheelies no problem and runs right into the rev limiter in 3rd and 4th no problem either. It is as quiet as stock but just sounds good now.

So got a good ride on it. For sure more power. Lots more down low and mid. Barks and takes off impressively. Feels more racy. Kinda took it from powerful play bike to "I got your attention now?" race bike feel. Not for the timid. Its loud but not crazy loud, my friends did not comment or complain. I asked my buddy who was chasing me and said not to loud. It did introduce a pop and stall and erratic idle. A lot of it I got dialed out with the JD tuner but I still feel it needs more back pressure. Will be working on a sparky screen and hope thats enough. I really do enjoy the power. The conditions were perfect and i had a new back tire and I have to say the bike felt better int he woods than it ever had. Makes me want to ride it harder and toss it around more. The sound and response just urges you to go for it. I like it but need to resolve the just off idle hiccup and hunting idle and I'll be happy.

Sounds pretty good man. by the way what is your new back tire? If such a thing as a trials knobby existed I think that would be it. How do you like it over the slow roots/rocks type of stuff?

Kenda 270 DS tire. It is kind of a trails / knob hybrid. I have wanted to try one for years as a summer dirt tire. I destroyed a dunlop 803 trials tire and had this laying here for my TE511 and tossed it on my 02 CR250 husky. Did not like it at 10 psi but like it very well at 6 psi and it is still plenty stiff to not flat. got 200 miles on it on my 250 and it looks new. Hooks up well, does not do anything stupid and seems very robust. So it stayed on my 250 at least for the summer. Then I got another one for my TE511 and installed it the other day. Actually like it even better on this bike. It is made for heavy DS and adventure bikes so does seem to work better on a heavier 4 stroke. Its not the end all tire but I am really liking it for my summer dirt tire so far. Supposed to last forever. Guys on ATV are greeting 2000-3000 miles EZ. So far showing no wear. with that much actual rubber hitting the ground it has a lot of surface area. Good trail tire, I like it.

The TC449 is like a whole different bike, I love mine, but they both have their uses, I also love my TXC511.

Which is why I want both. Love this platform so a TC449 all stripped and light for off road rips would be a great addition to my TE511 which is loaded down with DS stuff.

Got the bike running perfect with the FMF on it. I JB welded a cone backfire screen to the insert in the muffler. This gave it slightly more back pressure and is quieter. Then I adjusted the brass screw on the EFI. Bike runs perfect. zero glitches, pulls crazy hard even with a 45 rear sprocket. Did a 360 mile weekend on it (yes you read that right) and it was flawless.
