  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TXC Kickstand

It's got the magic button so you probably will not ever need to kick it, but in the off chance you do, find a stump or large boulder/rock. I would hate to see you break a nice kickstand.

I have to say I do not want to break it! Bit on the short side here at 5'4'' some things on a dirt bike are a challange!

Always stop on a hill so's you can bumpstart it:D
Also, if you have a choice, stop in a rut so you will be closer to the ground.

I might suggest getting familiar with the kickstarter even though you've got the happy button. The battery gets sluggish on my KTM 450 EXC quite frequently and knowing I can kickstart it at a moment's notice brings great peace of mind.

Like WoodsChick said...get to know the kickstart before you have to!

I'm 5'9" and had to cut my seat down (1-2") for the knarly stuff so I could dab, but I'm finding that I'm standing more often now!

You're only 5'9" ?? Aww...poor baby...

I'd sell what's left of my soul if I thought it would get me a few more inches:p

I had my son cut my seat down also, now I can touch my toe sort of I just have a little problem starting and stoping in the begining but most of that is over now. If I still feel like it next winter I will have some taken out of the suspension but that will be a last resort. I just is great to be back spending time with my boys!

So this thread is getting some feedback! I have a question for Jeff what did you make your L bracket out of and do you have any pics?
Thanks
Les

Sorry about the delay, we haven't had power in almost a week now. Major ice/snow storm. I'll try and get some pics soon, its just a piece of steel L-angle.

Jeff
Weather can be a pain! I want to ride but its cold here also. Great did you also have to get a longer pin for the foot peg?
thanks
Les
PS might also get me a pic today also

OK I got the kickstand installed and also made a little bracket to come off the foot peg pin. here is some pics.:D

Nice. I have had no issues with mine but that is a cool mod which I'm sure makes it really strong.

Your camaro is :notworthy:

Most people wont need it but since i am not too tall just a little extra if need to get up on it to kick start it.
My camaro did not look like that when I started but thanks:cheers: its not a bike but it is mine.
Thanks Les

Love the RS front end.

Wish I still had my 70 1\2 RS, I've got a soft spot for the split bumper Camaro's, they're worth a fortune now. But I was just a street punk at the time & never thought of keeping it after the engine blew :banghead:

me too. I have a 71 I converted to the RS front and, built the motor and customer painted. I'll see if i can dig up some pix.

Geez, were a pretty similar group here. I also had a 69 Z28. Was my first car, paid $5K for it, threw a ton a money at it over the years and sold it about 8 years ago for too cheap.

We all have had items in life that we wish were back! That is the main reason that I have a new Husky:D So that I will be able to get in some more time with my boys:cheers: Now if I could talk them into a Huske we could go on the Baja ride:banghead:

I also had a 73 Camaro RS split bumper, traded my 81 IT 250 for it, but it needed some work & at that point girls & parties took over, I was out of dirt bikes & out of time to work on cars. But I'll never forget about my big block street racer 70 1\2 RS

Superneil that could be possible you are close at 7 mpg it would only cost? well more than a tank for my Husky
