• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Welcome to the forum! Introduce yourself here!

Hi All, I rode & raced Husky's back in the day (last Husky was a 87 430cr pre-Italy). I've been riding Orange since 2001, still own a pumpkin 300 but I thinking Husky is going to make a big comeback (for real this time) and I like the looks of the bike (it seems I have a soft spot for Husky's...). Anyway I've been lurking for awhile and thought I would join up so I can look/read/contribute more in depth. If I get a change to try a new 300 and I like it I would make the change. Happy trails, JH

Hello all,

My Introduction & Story

Hello Fellow Husky Enthusiast

I was born raised in Southern California. I currently live in Las Vegas been here for 10 months. I lived in the state of Georgia for about 4 1/2 years. (Didn’t like it, way too humid for me. That and the Tornados) and then move back to the west coast.

As young kid to the age of 18 I live in Lucerne Valley Ca. Lived in the eastern side of Lucerne Valley near Soggy Dry Lake, and fairly close to Anderson Dry Lake on the other side of the valley. Lots of riding & racing trails between both of these riding areas is where I got my start riding motorcycles.

My first bike was a 100cc Hodak dirt squirt. I bought the bike for a $100.00. With 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears completely stripped! I had a friend that had a bunch of Hodak engine parts, frames, wheels & tires and etc. So I gave my friend $40.00 bucks for a big box of Hodak engine parts and the way I went. I completely rebuild the engine & transmission and gave the frame a new paint job, reupholstered the seat and polished the aluminum cylinder head, chrome tank and fenders. When I finished the bike looked and ran brand new! I just putted around on the bike I didn’t ride it hard. I spend most of the time looking at it.

My next bike, I stepped up with the big boys. I bought a tricked KX 250 an ex-pro motocross privateer’s bike. This bike was scary fast! Just starting it up, it sounded violent! In fact, I used to race a long side of Big Rigs on the highway. The Big Rigs would be on the highway and I would be on a dirt trail that ran parallel to the highway. I would run a long side the Big Rigs for a good 5-8 miles hitting woops, dodging brushes, and flying over flood trenches. Truckers use to blow their horns at me in amazement! I eventual sold the bike, it was like a race horse, it saw better racing days and it was ready for the pasture. Plus it started breaking down a lot on trail rides with friends.

Then after that I went into Military and I bought a Yamaha XT 600 dual sport rode it for a while then I sold that bike. I got out of the Military then got a Honda Cr500 rode it for a while in the SoCal Desert and sold it. Now have a 2006 TC 450 that is starting to show its age. I’m looking to purchase a 2010 TXC 450 or 510.

The areas I like to ride are Apex next to Nellis Air Force Base, North Las Vegas, Stoddard Wells OHV, Barstow Ca., Soggy dry lake, Johnson Valley Ca., and Anderson Dry Lake & Cougar Butts, Lucerne Valley Ca., and Jean NV? I hear some parts of Jean are on the list of land closure near Primm?

Outside of my motorcycle history, I came across this website googling around in the internet. I like the fact there is a lot of Husqvarna information. Everything from repair tips to trail rides. I definitely be in the forum. Thanks for letting on to the site.

I'm sure you meant Cougar Buttes, but far be it from me to keep you from riding over a cougars butt if your brave enough.:lol:

Anyway welcome aboard. I love your story about how you spent more time looking at the bike than riding it.:) I seem to do that a lot these days.

I used to ride over at Cougar Buttes area too, back in the late 80s. San Diego Trials Riders used to put on events out there and I would take my Beta TR33 240 out there and compete.

I hope you enjoy it here at the Cafe.

Im 35 as of yesterday, I live in Idaho and consider myself very very lucky for that. my first husky w
s a 04TC 450 that was a great bike. I now ride a WR300 and can honestly say that until the government tells me I ca not ride it I will stay with the 2t. im currently laid up with a broken knee so no riding for me till November I live I Mountain Home and that is about it.
Yes you are lucky to live in Idaho, there are some really great trails there with lot's of diversity. The WR 300 is the perfect weapon for you're area. The only thing holding me back from getting a 300 is all the trails in Ca. that are becomeing more restricted, well that and the money of course.:D

I live in Kingman Arizona and have loved motorcycles all my life I have the Husky Te 450 08, Ducati Hypermotard 08, Harley Davidson Road Glide 06, Buell S1 Lighting 97 and a old Harley Baja 100 that needs some TLC. I like these forums to see what other people have to say about there motorcycles and some of the Modifacations they have done. But I do think that some people get to obsessed with all the latest and greatest gadgets. Especially on the Ducati forum. But any way if there is anybody near the Kingman area and need some one to go ride with let me know. Thanks:applause:

Well not exactly Kingman area but I have a place in Lake Havasu. At some point and time I'd like to have a Cafe gathering there so keep you're eyes open, we'ed love to have you join us.

Hi I'm Mike. Ive been lurking for awhile and decided it's time to join. I bought a TE-250 back in 06'. I had been looking for a replacement for my 86' KDX200 (still have it), and this is just about perfect. It's been everywhere from nasty single track, desert, Nor Cal snow runs, and I even commuted to work on it one day down I-15 for 20 miles (my daughter needed to borrow my truck) I'm also very fortunate to live in the center of the Husky universe. Ron Bishop and MotoForza are both minutes away, GP and Malcolms a little farther, and of course George has always taken to time to answer my questions (the skid plate and vent tube filter are awesome). I've met a couple of you folks out at McCain Valley and Corral Cyn and am looking forward to meeting some more of you.

Later

Mike
Yep California has some drawbacks but having so many great dealer dealers around almost make up for rest of what we put with.

It seems that most Husky riders are more mechanically/technically inclined than other groups and that seems to be the case no matter where you go. Of course I like to think that all the coolest kids hang out here of the Cafe.:D

I live in western North Carolina and currently ride a 620 Multistrada and a DRZ400s. I'm spending more and more time riding on the forest service roads and trails here, so I'm trying to learn more about the 610's. I've always liked Huskys; the guy who tought me to ride motocross way back in 1972 had a husky 250. This looks like a great site and I look forward to being part of it. Thanks!
wncstrada

Welcome, there are lots of 610 riders here, as a matter of fact you might say that this is 610 central. If you like that DRZ you wolud love the 610 they have very much the same personality but the 610 just has a lot more of it.

Here we have a mountain landscape, which promotes the practice of our sport.

I hope to learn more about Huskys with our colleagues

I will be posting some pictures soon

Welcome, we are definetly looking forward to seeing all the pics from Brazil. It must have some really outstanding riding.

Hi guys, My name is Rex and I have been lurking for a couple of weeks. This seems like a great board with some very knowledgeable people. :notworthy:

I have been riding dirt bikes for about 30 years but have always ridden Yamaha's and KTM's. But based on rider reviews, fuel injection and the ability to plate the bike in the Social Republic of California I am ready to give a Husky TE510 a try. I also love the fact that Husky owners are so passionate about their brand.

I live in SoCal, so I am going to try to get down and see George at Up-Tite this weekend. If things work out I may bring home a TE510..

Anyway thanks for such a great board. :)

Welcome aboard, great to see another Husky convert. Both Yamaha and KTM make great machines but once you've been bitten by the Husky bug it's hard to go back. It's probably has as much to do with the sense of community that goes along with owning one as it does with the fact that Huskys are just great machines.

I know what you mean about being meticulous whn it comes to the bike. My office is often disorganized, my garage is frequently cluttered and I'm sure that if it were not for my wife my house would be less than stellar:busted: but when it comes to the Husky (or my boat) nothing but immaculate will be accepted. Hello,
I have a 2006 510SMR and just got a 2008 610sm. I'm looking for the part # for the adjustable base valves in the front fork of my 08 610. From what I have found its just the part from a 2007 610. Has anyone done this fix? Is there just one part to put on? Thanks for your reply.:notworthy:

Hey Logan Welcome to Cafe Husky.
Although someone might answer your question in here you might be better off starting a new thread over in the 610 forum
Post up some pic or give us your view on your bikes if you'd like. In the Get togethers & Ride Reports
Again glad to have you on board.

Hi: I'm Mike, 53yrs old and ride an 07 TE 510 box stock in the high desert of CA, almost exclusively in the dirt. Used to ride D37 desert years ago and have been riding here and there ever since. My Husky is the best dirt bike i've ever owned, and it's street legal. I joke that my wife got it for me on Valentine's 07, she got confused and got me a Husky... I said, H-A-R-L-E-Y... Oh well, it'll do!;)
