• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hey there everyone,
I got turned onto Husky while reading a 300 shootout in Dirt Bike Mag. I was concerned initially about parts, support, and otherthings needed after-sale. Lurking in your community has helped me to realize that my fears were unfounded. So, I'm in the process of selling some other bikes to buy either a leftover 2009 WR300, or a 2010 WR300.

I have an 87 500xc. I am new to this site. My bike seems to run well enough but I have some issues with the kick start kicking back on start up. I would like to check the timing but don't have any info on how to do it or what the specs are. Is there anyone that can help? Also I need to find out where I can fet the rubber boot between the carb and the cylinder. The one I have is cracking and I have just been using sealer to seal it...

Happy I found this site

My name is Scott Waggoner and I'm from Pendleton Oregon. My good friends dad was the Husky dealer here in town untill 1983. Got my first husky at age 16,1982, a 1980 CR250 that was like new, second one was a 1980 OR390 that I eventually put the 420 "kit" in. Daughter wanted to start riding at age 5 so I needed something to chase her around-of course. Found a real ratty 87-430XC and had fun with that. CJ- Siege, T-shirt fame, told me vintage bikes were like bad drugs- try once your hooked! 87-430 was two years ago, now have 82-CR250, 82 430XC, 83-500XC, 84-500XC, hence the user name! Plus some remaining parts of the 87-430. This site is a wealth of knowledge, spent four hours on it when I found it. Thank you, Scott

Thanks for the welcome

I have recently purchased a 1983 WR/CR 250 I am restoring to go Heaven racing in NSW Australia. Looking for some parts in particular a coil and a silencer, if anybody can help track them down it would be appreciated.

I really enjoy Cafe Husky for it's topics and wide range of helpful hints and parts listings etc.

Thanks

I bought a 99 TE610, tarded, a while ago. I was stupid enough to not check the oil before riding it home, and am now getting a bunch of metal shavings in the oil - it made evil noises when low on oil, but nothing bad anymore.

It's got a Pro Circuit T4 (LOUD), FCR41, Excel/Haan SuMo wheels as well as stock ones, and an EBC 320 front rotor and caliper spacer.

It also needs a new swingarm due to the cracks...

I hope to figure out what went south on the engine, and to find a new swingarm soon - because it was a REALLY fun bike.

howdy all, new from texas and spent yesteday afternoon unloading a big cratefull of sm510 off my flatbed, and i did my first ride around the block this morning.
crap, its a tad bit snapier than the pe250 i rode26 years ago, which was also the last time i touched a bike.
great site u got here, and i have to say it steered me in the direction of husky after looking at bikes in person and on the net for well over a year

Welcome aboard. You might try Bills MC Plus in Oregan for the parts you"re looking for. I think he had a couple of swing arms that will fit you're bike. Hope you get it all squared away.

Hi,

I just bought a 2010 TXC 250, I can´t wait to ride it this weekend!

Welcome to Cafe Husky. That TXC should be just the right weapon for the wide open area around Mexico City.

Welcome aboard Clyde. I can really relate to you're situation. My daughter will be graduating in 2 years and then on to college. My hope is that a little more time might free up by then, of course the other obstacle at that point is going to be money, there will have to be a balancing act between tuition and riding.:D
Glad to have you join us.

Thanks for letting me join. I live in Southern California and ride my 2007 TE 510 in the California desert / Ocotillo Wells and in Mammoth Lakes during the summer season. I have Husky's from 1972 through 2007. Thinking about a 2009 or 2010 very soon... Regards, Greg
