• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Where are you from

Born in Downey Ca., currently live in Downey Ca. and in between then and now I've been just about everywhere else.

Originally from upstate NY, outside of Utica , about 20 miles from Unadilla. Next was Cambridge, MA, then Ithaca, NY followed by Amherst, MA, Gettysburg, PA, Thetford, VT and Eugene, OR. Now we are in Columbia, MO. Next up?

Born and raised in San Jose, CA. back before it was known as Silicon Valley, and there were farms and fruit orchards instead of hi-tech companies.

Moved out of the house one month after my 16th birthday and landed in the booming metropolis of Toledo, WA where I lasted almost one year.

Moved to Oakland, CA (50 miles north of SJ) and been here ever since. Love this city, even though it suffers from astoundingly bad (ok, nonexistent) leadership.

Yes, this is Oakland...

Dallas - Texas, Kawasaki - Japan, Rockford - Illinois, Everywhere - Mexico, and now Denver - Colorado. We travel half the year now but I think Colorado will remain our home base for a long while.

Born in Mayfield Kentucky, lived in Cahokia IL, for a spell. Ventura County for my formative years, and now north of Los Angeles at the doorstep of the Angeles National Forest. I can go fishing, boating, and of course riding without ever needing a freeway. That's like an expressway, for you right coasters :D. Although if the local metro authority has it's way, they will be called toll roads or turnpikes soon enough.

im a 2 smoker but thought i would make myself heard, England gloucestershire

If anyone wants to, and I highly encourage it, click on this link and fill in your location:
http://www.cafehusky.com/account/personal-details

Then when people click on your location here, your location will show up on a map. Obviously you should not give your exact location for privacy reasons, but it really helps out if you put something in so others can help you more easily e.g. if you are discussing a warranty question, what country you are in makes a difference.
