• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Where is the 650 forum? (TR650 in the house...)

Really? I was looking at them before and after my ride and the Demo I had looked like the upper tripple clamp has the lower bar perch/mount molded into it...upper tripple clamp and lower bar mount were one piece. What I saw was the only removable part of the handlebar perch was the clamp. Maybe the machining was good enough that it looked like one piece. Can you post a pic?

After going through bar riser modifications on my Funduro ( only found two suppliers with products that worked none of them were actually designed for my bike) This among other things was of concern.

I will make it a point to disassemble and verify. I noted a distinct seam between the bottom of the the lower portion of the handlebar mount and the top triple tree. Was actually wondering if the ones off the G450X would fit it bolt on and would not have to have anything machined. Will check tonite to be sure and post results.

We have the bar risers done for fat bars...

It is two parts and we already have the risers for fat bars done. We did stock height and 1/2 inch taller. Going to the anodizers today. Will be offering a really nice deal with bars. Should have it all good to go by the end of the week or so depending on the anodizers.

You're a busy man...good deal.

Great. Can you post a price when avail for both or for risers only if they will be available separate? Thx

One more comment about the bike. Knowing full well that the bike is set up to emissions, going to look into airbox mods and remaps and exhaust. If this bike had 5 to 10 more Hp, it would be fantastic. Got to be able to get a few more safe ponies out of her without compromising reliability.
IF anyone has or has any thoughts, please post! thx

I would think exhaust and EFI tuning would yield 5 plus HP EZ.

Here is the prototype Billet skid plate / frame connector. We went all out on this one for several reasons.

1. There is a main oil line from the very bottom of the motor to the top. Stupid location and begging to get torn off and destroy the engine.
2. No way to lift the bike on the stand and change tires
3. Needs to be super strong to protect vulnerable engine cases and oil line
4. the bike deserves it.

THIS IS A PROTOTYPE. The uprights both front and rear are just for location and sizing. Will be chamfered and more finished in final version. Also the rear supports as show are just sitting there in this pix and will be welded on. They also have a top cap that bolts on. So the front brackets mount in two places to the frame frame / motor mounts and the rear clamps onto the rear frame like bar mounts. This thing is going to be ridiculously strong.

Design is done, metal arrives tomorrow and we get cutting. Should have theme in final form in a few weeks. Will be doing natural and black colors. Will post a poll on the Motosportz forum to vote for black or natural so I can get a feel for whats more wanted. Thanks.

Wow, Looks super. I vote natural as won't show paint scratches after use etc. Just me. Only thing I would want to make sure of is that the right side engine case has some protection with a little height on the skid plate around the base of the large round part. Seen 2 X Challenges with the same case crack from rock hits with skid plates.

Hi, I'm new here but already got some good info on the bike I'm planning to buy. Previously being rather BMWish (R1150GS & F800GS), but I need something lighter for city and light off-roading... No Terras available yet in my country to try though.

Is there an ABS version available in US? Maybe someone compared both ? The reason I'm asking is that the ABS-version is based on 17'' rear wheel instead of 18''. That might be more useful for reaching the ground for myself (I'm 5'7'')...

And one more question - can someone post a close-up pic of instrument cluster with engine on ? Would be happy to see...

Motosportz, are you looking into a centre stand for this bike at all, that will fit in with a bash plate?

With that skid plate you could just get a cheap harbor freight motorcycle jack if ease of maintenance is the reason you want a center stand.

Althought it is more weight, it would be a nice feature to have, if you were to get a flat out in some remote area
