All too well! My KTM/Husaberg dealer, was a Husky dealer back then. He's still bitter after all these years, at the treatment he got at Cagiva NA's hands. Most Husky dealers were Mom and Pop dirt bike shops and couldn't handle the Cagiva and Ducati street bikes. Ferracci and Cagiva USA, ran it more like the old days. He still has doubts about Husky, even thought it's in KTM hands. I hope KTM treats Husaberg dealers well, through this transition....
So, I can go buy a 2014 Husqvarna WR250 that's made in Italy from a old Cagiva design for about $4700 OTD, or I can wait a bit and get a 2014 Husqvarna TE250 that's made in Austria, that's a Husaberg, made from KTM parts with a linkage for about $9400 OTD. Hmm, think a TE is twice as good as a WR? Let's see, both bikes have water cooled, reed valve two strokes with power valve and a 66 x 72 bore / stroke combo, steel tube frame, single rear shock, aluminum swingarm with linkage, 48mm cartridge forks, 21" / 18" wheels with Brembo brakes. Hmm, can't be too much better. Wait, I get a 6th gear and electric start for the extra $4700 OTD. Gee, what a deal!
I've had my share of good deals on new Cagiva Huskys. The problem is that, they never really made money on them and they couldn't stay in business. Our good fortune, turned into our misfortune.... if Cagiva could have charged more and we paid it, they would still be building Huskys! I'd have my electric start WR250, in a 125/X-Lite frame. Sad, but true boys....
Oh and I actually read your other comment regarding this. I forgot that it is considered deragatory because you saying it was the first time I heard it. In my mind it's just shorthand. Sorry for the original smart ass reply but you'd get better results with a simple explanation.
Husky is short for husqvarna, Euro is short for European, Aussie is short for Australian, Ruskie is short for Russian, that being said .....call me honky i am not offended at All! However calling my wife " Husky" is apparently bad....real bad.. She gets upset and I get in trouble ....despite that I believe " husky " an endearing term because everybody knows I love my husky ! She just took it the wrong way .....either way my new " huskies" are going to be expensive whether it be cash..or emotional capital ....
Yep a friend of mine here in SA owns a KTM agency---The mark up on the bikes are so low it is not worth it imho to sell them --On the spares side they have a better mark up and can at least negotiate discount for people who race --Only reason I don't ride a KTM --I want to stay friends with him Here I call A KTM ------ A LEMON ---Disguised as a Orange -- Hmm now we will have Husabergs --Disguised as Husqvarna's -- Im, sure I will get used to the new Husqvarna's in time--Was there when Husqvarna sold to the Italians --I was very upset but became to love the Italian Husqvarna's as well as well as the German ( BMW) Ones Lets see what unfolds in the future
I can understand the markup on Huskys being so low as to make it unprofitable for dealers to sell new bikes as the markup on parts makes up for it. So now I know why they make their trashy bikes so that they kayteeboom so often.
i cant find the cr in this range? http://www.husqvarna-motorcycles.com/en_au/motocross/tc-125.html I was going to buy a cr 125 at the end of the year, i guess getting a 2013 model might be my best bet?
