• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

Bent my Handlebars...

Ok, so keeping in my mind my bars have been bent more than once and bent back to where they're usable again more than once, this is what I came up with on measurements (I've only gone down on the left side and bent the left side of the bars so I focused measurements on the right side where possible). I didn't remove the bars from the bike but I did strip the grips and controls so they were bare except for the mounts.
A = 787.4
B = 50.8
C = 50.8 (these bars are flat once they rise so B and C appear to be the same)
D = 171.5
E = 69.85
F = 235

If anyone else has measured I'd love to see how mine match up. Anyway I'll use these numbers to help decide which Pro Tapers I want. I know I want taller. I'm thinking KX High.

Thanks for taking the measurements. I am guesstimating that if with a 2" riser and the counter bars in the carmichael bend, my net rise will be between 1" and 2" (hopefully).

I found those measurements abit strange... Especially B is probably not the same as C. Can someone with removed factory bars measure them to check whats right ?

That's what I came up with but never measured all aspects of bars before and mine have been bent to hell so YMMV. Hopefully I'll have some KX high's here soon so I'll lay them out next to each other and compare.

I just finished installing pro taper KX Hi bars on my Terra. Just found this thread, so sorry couldn't measure side by side. Sitting them on the bike next to the new bars I see the pro tapers don't have as much sweep. There is a difference of 1/2-3/4". The pro tapers are also about 1/2" taller.

Also installed Cycle Gear's Trackside hand guards. No wind guards right now though. Some minor sanding of edges to prevent damage to the clutch cable and some sanding of the crossbar bracket for the brake reservoir. Not bad really. image.jpg

My bars bent travelling on the rack behind my truck. Can you say soft? Anyway, I replaced them with Pro-Taper Mid-ATV 7/8 series.

Sweep, close enough for me. Width, close enough for me. Height, about 2" taller which seems about perfect so far.

I'm doing the same bar set up as you MadDog and was wanting to use the same touratech guards. Any tips as to how I get the bar weight ends on the new SE bars?

I put my HDB guards and Rox Risers on my TR this week. I found no need to change any of the cables. I had plenty of length in the stock cables with a couple of caveat's. I had to switch the clutch cable routing to the left side (clutch side) of the bike and loosen the stanchion anchor from the front brake line that is located on the right rear of the headlight cowling. Everything else worked fine. I am now up two inches further back about an inch and a half further up.

I'm old so I like the "sit up and beg position". Standing is super comfortable now.

The HDB flip out mirrors were part of my order but I'm not sure about these yet. They seem to be fine with no vibrations in them at all. I will qualify that by saying that I had HDB fab some shorter bar weights so continued dampening would be present. As for the mirrors themselves, meh....time will tell as to whether I like them.

Perhaps I should be kicking myself for not having the top clamp drilled for Ram Balls. I could eliminate a ton of crap off the bars. I will probably order some and drill, tap and relocate the GPS and SPOT.

Later down the road I will likely order fat bars of some sort. The Rox risers are convertible from 7/8" to 1 1/8"
