Yep, totally agree that alcohol is worse than weed.

Img ray-ray drinks beer and rides, i used to spill half my pint on the cycle home as a teenager to do that on a motorbike is serious skill!
Subject of drugs each to their own my friend hit a pedestrian on his zx7r three weeks ago fractured two vertibra and had bleeding on the brain, he smoked when younger but hes always getting injured, is self medicating morphine at the moment so dont hear much from him.

Me i dont smoke pot and i have fewer get offs course i back off way before the pain comes.
Different folks different strokes but if it works i would recomend it.

I personally agree with Rick..... dont feel like this is the place for this.....

My leg is all screwed up and if it would cut my heal time in half i wouldnt.... just my opinion

It seems like everyone is always looking for a reason to legalize "pot".... it gets old.... it is addictive just like many other drugs... maybe not addictive physically but to the feeling of being "high".... I have seen many people ruined and lives ruined by pot.... families split, jobs lost, etc just like other much worse drugs.....

    again just my opinion....

Keep in mind the component they found that helps fracture healing is not the one that gets you high (THC).

I'm broken too and if marijuana cut my heal time in half, and was legally available, of course I would.

Surely opioid painkillers that I was prescribed are worse than weed for addiction.

Correct, it is Cannabidiol (CBD) which we are finding does amazing things especially for those with seizure problems.

I'm fine with them removing this post but think it is not needed. Its simple information and not pushing drugs on anyone. I think we are all big enough to deal with it or ultimately ignore it like any other post you don't want to be involved in. There are several other posts on this like RayRays legalization thread. Not sure why people feel this does not belong here and can't be talked about. Education is a good thing and several good remarks on both sides and about the topic.

Kind of lame that folks can't discuss pot without someone getting on their high horse(no pun intended). It's legal where I live, you can walk into a shop & buy it, but some folks get butt hurt if you talk about it in this forum? Ridiculous. I don't use it, I quit drinking 18 years ago, but I don't be-moan when others do. I stay out of bars & don't chime in when folks talk about drinking beer.

Aside from the humorous yet slightly misleading thread title the actual post has nothing to do with the promotion of drugs or alchohol. If anything, there is relevance to dirt bikers or anyone with an active lifestyle that often includes injuries. I myself am glad that most here can have a lighthearted yet respectful conversation about a topic that is tied not only to the hobby/sport we love but is a reflection of how societal views regarding marijuana or at least components of the plant are changing.

I don't know you but I am glad you seem to have found a positive path. Remember though that yours is not the only path. You "ruined your life" through your lack of self control. Please do not project that on me.

I find this very interesting and I'm glad the thread was posted. Now that weed is legal and being studied openly by people that are not associated with the US gov. I'm certain there will be many positive uses discovered besides getting high without the hangover. There is too much anecdotal evidence of the healing power for there not to be some truth in it. Keep in mind that nearly all modern medicine in pill form is derived from plants.

So when the mxgp guys are dosed up on painkillers with a fractured shoulder etc that should be banned?

I'm sure it could be extracted and taken in pill form without inducing any desire to watch Cheech and Chong and over-eat anything available.

I gotta say, this thread has prompted me to research fracture healing in general, so I'm cool with it being posted here.

I'll TRY to share only my experience.
Since i been riding huskies ( last 5 years ) i've broken my patella (kneecap) in half. Both hands , and shattered both arms,
Radius & humerus. I'm 58 years young. I dont drink , smoke ,do drugs or eat ANY animal products. I exercise , eat right , and take care of myself.
My bones (all) have headed extremely fast and with no issues, So for me I think there is something to be said about living a healthy life style. I've stayed away from the opiates after the surgeries, and been ok.

Now for what OTHER people do , I dont really have a lot of control over that.

No for my 2 cents, If it was legal , and proven to speed up the bone healing process, I might think about it in some other form ( brownies, hehehe) if it was perscriped. But being from Pennsylvania, i'll most likely be long gone by the time it becomes legal Pa.

    As Evel says
“bones heal, pain is temporary, [and] chicks dig scars...”

    Hey RickyD where ya from?

On the news this week they said there's a company in Colorado called Wana making cannabis pills. Apparently the euphoric feeling is less and the effectiveness lasts over several hours. More effective for "medicinal" use than your standard bong loads.

Man has lots of synthetic products ... Maybe there are lots of hidden, natural good side-effects here that have been hidden AND I am not talking about just euphoric effects to be sold for profits ...

Researchers are already developing strains of the plant that are higher in cbd and lower in thc. That said organic chemistry is extremely complex so by changing the make up of a plant you could be losing a chemical that my only make up a tiny portion of the cure but is essential. We still don't completely understand tea or coffee... Yes we know that there is caffeine but it's not that simple. My understanding is that some of the health benefits of weed are lost when smoked (obviously burning it will change it chemically) so it must be eaten for certain purposes. I personally know someone who after being told he wouldn't live long he refused chemo and cured his melanoma by making oil out of weed and putting it on his skin cancer topically. The same guy cloned the plant strain he used and gave it to another friend of mine who cured a dog that had cancer of the jaw. The vet wanted to cut out 1/4 of the dogs jaw but my friend rubbed the oil on the cancer spot every day and after about 2 months the cancer was gone. The oil is made by grinding up the plant and soaking the powder in alcohol then drying the alcohol out at a low temp less than 150 degrees F. I turns to a sticky tar like goo that is about 10x stronger than weed if smoked and can get you high if you get it on your skin. I can only imagine how high that dog was after getting it rubbed on his gums everyday.
