Number may a little high but not much . Had 1050 at Idaho Falls. Then to Macksy , well over 100 the way we went. Then 300 today. So closer to 1500 I suppose but still, pretty good I think! Some comments. Held nothing back off pavement but avoided aggressive front braking in the road. Ran most pavement at 55 to 65 except today. The last 300 was at 70 to 75.
I just installed another MX52. For training down here in the desert, it's what most of the top desert guys run, Husky, Kawasaki, Honda, Ivan and Team KTM. It lasts about 300 miles and it's done, but it's profile and traction makes you feel like a hero. When racing Baja, V2R, Dakar, etc.. 908RR, period. http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/511/8074/Motorcycle-Article/KTM-Prepares-Baja-Assault-on-Honda.aspx
The middle knobs are close to done on the brake side but it is impressive for a tire with such a small contact area on a Terra.
Dunlop MX 52 DOES NOT come in a 18 We need a replacement tire for the 51 or 52 in a 110/100/18 I run that on my 125,165,250,300 and even my 510 I just purchased 5 Geomax 51 I see no more avalible anywhere SO get me a Golden rear tire that works like the 51 and I will purchase it
Final results are in! After getting home, with approx. 1750 dual sport miles, I measured the depth of the slot in the middle knobs. You won't believe it! Brand new, or virtually, 7.3 mm After 1700 plus DS miles, 6.4 mm That is only 1mm of wear! When the tire was new I was fairly careful leaning into the curves at speed as there was just a slight bit of squirm at good angles. After wearing in, I was a lot more confident but till wouldn't try to drag a knee. This is a great tire and I will be buying more of them.
If I had to choose a Golden Tyre rear (not dual sport), the superx would be my first choice. The GT 232 Super X is so close to a MX 51/52 it's creepy, but it's a 19" rim only too (maybe for good reason?) And that isn't going to work with your 18" wheel stock you have. So I'm thinking about having you try the GT333 Non-Dominator. Nice thing about the 333 is that it comes in a 110/100 and a 120/100 for the bigger bikes, allowing them to roll into turns while still having a large tire foot print.
That is great news. The picture you posted earlier lead me to think it was wearing faster. I'm glad I was wrong. I have about 600 miles on mine and show about .4 mm wear on the center knobs (TE610) which is similar wear. The tire works good everywhere I've tried it, especially deep silt. No mud yet though.
Thanks. I asked because I found off road it seems to like more pressure than I typically like to run which is a win/win for me for flat protection. I feel somewhat invincible with that front. I'm sure now that I have said that I'll get a flat next ride.
Ty told me today that he is working with Golden to produce a mousse that will work with this tire the current Golden mousse is to small Like I said I took a new Michlien 90/100 21 mousse cut it then added 6 inches in one and 5 inches in my other one and it works great For me personally I do not think I will ever run a tube again. If I am going to drive thousands of miles to do a race I do not want to worry about a flat. After almost a year I put the used mousses along with a little stuffing in the practice bikes .They are worth the money for piece of mind
