Need to post pics, but I just purchased a ton of stuff for my SMS630... SME sliders frt/rear, full LV Ti/Carbon exhaust, jd jett, cycra handguards, 14frt/40rear sprockets, brp chain guide, hyde skid plate and a new seat concepts seat!!
Got some new 2000 lumen Tesla LED's mounted up, tied them into the high-beam with a relay. I also ditched the HID bulb in the main headlight, I wasn't a fan of the questionable quality and the way the beam quivered due to the emitter vibrating in the housing when the solenoid was de-energized. These things are obnoxiously bright Bike is pointed down towards the ground a bit, but: Low Hight with LED's
I think he's out of 2000 lumen, he's gone to 3600 lumen The 2000's were $110 a pair, the 3600's are like $185 Bought them HERE
Givi silver large saddlebags with Givi E46 topcase for long distance trips... Expanded... Had to fab up a small standoff bracket. Since my cans have been converted to flow-throughs heat on the bags is not an issue at all.
I don't have any parts photos, but here's what I just put in mine: Cam chain Cam chain gear Cam chain sliders Cam chain tensioner gasket Clutch bushing Clutch spring cup upgrade Fork oil 11,000 miles or so on the odometer. All that stuff was pretty much due for replacement. Did all the work myself; first time I've dug that deep into an engine.
Forgot to mention that my days of racking up street miles on the Husky are over. I'll be picking up a street bike in the spring. If I'm not going off road, I'll be on the street bike.
Good man/fortunate man. You are deserving as you've proven the need for one. I'd like to go that route myself, but the reality is I can't reasonably justify the cost and don't have adequate space right now...otherwise I would. The TE is working great for me as it's recreational, and while I do a fair amount of road miles it's always w/ the mindset of if I see a trail or whatever just off of a back road and it's not marked no trespassing, then I'm all about impulse exploring. Not to change the intent of the thread...but what are you thinking of getting?
I never intended to use my 630 as a daily driver, other than going for breakfast on the weekend with my riding friends. It's for longish dual sport trips which would be 3 to 5 thousand miles each. One or two of those a year, which means replacing the cam chain every two years, or maybe less. It's difficult to understand why the Husky timing chain has to be replaced so often when chains on other bikes seem to last and last. My BMW R bike has miles and miles of cam chain, and I've never even thought of having to replace it. Same on the WRR Yamaha. I wonder if the chains are just not as good, or if the tension on it is so much greater in the Husky. There has to be a reason...
Husky CYA due to the known problems of the 610 chain wear but that's an entirely different valve train so makes no sense. As jtemple had stated his old chain, gear and sliders were are still fine. But once opened up he replaced them anyway since he already had the parts on hand (I'd do the same). Once my warranty runs out I will replace the cam chain when the tensioner has limited adjustment left or if I hear noise, whichever comes first. My guess is ~30K miles. _
