  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

'12 TXC310 Build Up

Hey Conner, nice practice track ya got there. Video looks good, for me just need it aimed down the trail a little. I believe the wide angle lens kinda distorts the speed perception some. I'm with you on the download time, been trying to see what is the best way but that's another thread. Bike sounds good, getting some time on mine & liking it better all the time.

Im lucky to have a little bit of woods and a little bit of motocross here. It's actually a friends track down the road but i made the woods track and helped with the motocross part. The video doesn't do either track justice. The woods track is much harder and tighter than it makes it look.

First time I've heard a red-head. Much "revvier" than my 2012 - mine quits before it gets to the rev limiter.
Is that a clock/stopwatch on the right side of the tank?
I bought a "new" computer in the hope it would speed up my GoPro gen 1 video processing times - it takes hours to download 43 minutes of video - still takes hours. I'd probably buy a new one if someone told me that it was easier to use - easier to edit and share video in less time.

Ordered the 7602 Radiator guards tonight, TM Design Works Skid plate, and JD EFI tuner. More will be coming after that. Stay tuned.

Custom E-Sticky Graphic will be ordered tomorrow than a comes a full exhaust (new exhaust heat shield) and suspension. This all comes in under my budget of $1,900, which is what I saved when I choose the '12 over '13. Remember the point was to see if I could build a competitive bike with the money I saved.

I think my videos turned out terrible and dont show the real speed at all, or any elevation changes or anything really. I kinda hate them. The one you'll notice my helmet cam gets knocked off by a branch and i than spend 10 minutes trying to find it lol So for all the people that use gorpro's what settings do you use yours on? Mine is on r5 (1080P @ 30fps) and it is a Gen 1 go pro HD. If you all have any hints or idea please tell me. That branch must have hit pretty hard to rip my whole mount off, yet I didn't even feel it.

Mine is the Hero2 so I don't know if its the same setup, but try the 960 @ 48fps. It gives you a little more vertical view without sacrificing much on the wide angle. I've found this works best for me. That coming from a backwoods Montanan :) lol

What exhaust are you doing? I just did FMF and it woke my '12 TXC up quite a bit. Also added race tech springs to front and back. Haven't revalved yet, but the springs alone are great.

I think the springs are pretty close to my weight, so I am waiting at the moment to redo my suspension. Just got my tuner in tonight. I will be getting a rocket exhaust. They make a very nice and nice looking exhaust. Plus the price is pretty reasonable compared to the Pro Circuit. I was going to get a fmf but when i called and talked to the people they said they only offered a power core 4 hex. I was looking for the 4.1. O and my GoPro only goes to 30fps at 960p =(

Great pics! I just bought a 2013 TXC 310 and love it so far. I have only ridden it about an hour but really don't know what to compare it too as I am coming from a 2011 YZ 450F. The 310 seems much more manageable and it has the magic button. Just got my son a 2011 KTM350 which is nice. But I am excited about my Husky and a little worried as my KTM friends said I was making a mistake due to parts availability, etc. Can't wait to see and hear about more things you are doing to your bike.

Alright so I rode the bike today with the tuner. First off I noticed 2 things, one was that the power is much better and really helps the mid to top. Second was that it stalls a lot more now? I have no idea why, and it was not just me, another guide rode it and it stalled on him too. It may just be me though. But i was going to order an exhaust but idk now. I might still do it but it really doesn't need it now that the tuner is on. I will probably just get a slip on.

He's probably talking about the tool for the quick disconnect on the EFI. I haven't taken mine off yet but most on here say taking the line off at the throttle body is easiest. I got my rad guards(Motorsportz) on without taking the tank off, but your guards may be different

Mine reccomend to drain the radiators first, than remove the tank and shrouds. The works connection units on my yz250 were super simple compared to these.

Mike how does your 310 rev? Considering you thought mine was a '13 it must be different than mine.

I'm running an Akra pipe on it which I think gives me 3 more horses from pretty low in the mid-range all the way to the top. But I've never found the rev limiter - and don't ride it at the rpm you do so I just thought it sounded so different.... forgot that yours is a 12 also. I honestly feel like I rev mine as far out as it wants to go - that it feels like it's going flat before I hit a rev limiter. I posted a video in the 'racing' section of the first 1/3 of my last race. When I get into the sand washes at about 5 minutes and (just guessing) about 15 minutes you can hear me rev it about as far as I generally do. (I've got the sparky insert pulled out so it's pretty open) Maybe I need to adjust the mixture on top?

Do you have the efi tuner? It helps a ton. Mine will rev pretty good and it keep pulling much better now.

Got the skid plate today as well and will pick the graphics up tomorrow. Won't have time this week to put anything on but hopefully I will get some of it on monday. Busy busy busy =( But i did get to ride it the past couple days. Great in the woods, needs some work on the motocross track, seems like the front end likes to pack up in the stroke and its wanting to slide the front end out in turns for some reason. Gunna have to work on that. Ive been in touch with a guy from Factory Connection so Im going to do what he recommends first.

MikeB recommended Merge racing RRS cartridge springs. I put them in (I went with the woods setup e.g. soft). Fantastic! I swapped bikes for a bit with my riding partner today (guy is FAST! and he used to race MX and even instructed at he local track) Needless to say he has been on a lot of great forks and he said hands down my fork was the best he has ever ridden.

See I thought about those. I have been talking to a guy at factory connection and asked him about those. They are pretty much just pressure springs and you can get them just about anywhere. When asked about the springs he said, "The pressure spring deal, that’s old been done years ago. It can make the fork dive too much and or get real harsh because of the rising rate." So I've been deciding between complete revalve and possible respring (he gave me other instructions on what to try first with sag numbers and fork oil height and so on before I go the revalve route). But I am considering the springs.
