  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

The RRS springs are a love hate thing with most tuners. They either use them and they work great or they say they are a gimmick and would never use them. Very polarizing. There is not a "one" right way to do suspension many things works differently and get a similar outcome. They were recommended to me and they worked really well for me when I installed them. My forks went from really good to WOW****************************************!

Well here's my dilemma. I want to keep my bottoming resistance or even add a little more bottoming resistance for motocross but keep it plush to still run tight woods. IN other words the initial part of the stroke needs to be pretty soft and than get stiff enough to handle 50-75 foot jumps.

Alright so I got the guards on.
First is the TM Design Works Guard in black, very nice

Alright guys, new problem. I rode the bike yesterday and have some new things to report on. The bike works pretty dang good in the woods but on the mx track it isn't very good. I know it's not meant for the mx track, and it's not terrible at it, but it could be better in the corners and on power. Okay, so that's out now. I also another issue. I was riding with a friend today and doing some tough log crossings, and I came up wrong one time on a 3 foot thick log and slipped of the right side of it and slammed the left side of the bike on the log. Crushed in the exhaust guard (not a big deal) and now my bike won't start with the electric starter. It just clicks at the starting cylinoid (I think I spelled that wrong?). I have checked all the fuses, it has current all the way to the starter, and at the battery. Tried tapping the starter, and still nothing. Can't figure out what would have happened, it worked great up until than. This is ridiculous! I've only got maybe 6 hours on the bike. I need some help here! The dealer quoted me $250 for a new starter, but I didn't get to talk to the Husqvarna guy from the dealership and I'm hoping it will be covered under warranty. I can't understand why it would have broke from that  On top of that one of the black radiator shrouds broke off and now I have a pretty big brush burn and cut on my leg from going down earlier that day on the motocross track. The bike does however start with the kick starter (not willingly though ) and by bump start and than runs just fine. Help please!

I am guessing the "clicking" is the Starter Relay ? It is under the L/H Side Panel (Black Plastic "Box") was this damaged in your fall ?
Check things around it , try tapping it ?

I presume the Starter Button, switch gear is not damaged ?

Do you have 12 volts at the Starter Motor, or is it more like 8 or 9 volts ? If the Starter Gears "jam up" you will see a voltage drop.
If it is jaming up Im afraid you may need to strip it and need new Starter ? Worm and Gear ? (There are "different " available from 013).

Is there any damage to the Stator Cover ? The Starter Gear is behind the Stator.

Hope this is of some help and your find the problem.

Put up a picture of the left side of the bike (close up of the crash damage). If it happened right after the log crash something got damaged in the wreck, another set of eyes may help find it.

A clicking solenoid is usually a sign of low voltage under draw. You could test it with a volt meter under load (judging by your garage I bet you have a battery tester in there). If not try jumping it from another battery. If it works, it may be the battery or a loose connection somewhere. Start with the battery and work you way to the starter motor removing checking, cleaning and tightening each connection one by one.

Did try jumping it from the battery tender. No observable damage on the bike at all except the dented exhaust guard. My first thought was the starter relay because it is physically ticking or clicking there, but if it was bad than the starter wouldn't have current, but it does. We went through all the wires, tightened them all. Tapped on the starter (thinking it maybe a the brushes). I dropped it off at work, our mechanic wanted to take a look at it, he's a good friend and used to work on vehicles and used to race motocross. I've had a few different opinions.

The relay was not damaged in the fall (that I can tell). Starter button is good. Stator cover doesn't have an visible damage either. But i am not sure about how the starter gear is. I really hope I can figure out the problem and I hope it is warrantied.

How many Volts at the Starter Motor ? The Relay can "click" if the Battery is "flat" ? or the Voltage drops too low. There is a long thread on here about x-lite starter problems , sounds possible the Worm / Gear have "jammed" ?

Battery tender will not have enough to jump it with a weak battery. You can jump it from a car battery.

I apologize it wasn't a battery tender, but a battery charger. But we checked the battery and it's good. It's actually almost brand new, had to have a new battery put on it when I got it.

Just be sure the bad starter was the problem and not a symptom of the problem as if you put a new one in and it was something else. (Decomp, starter gears, etc.) the new starter will give up the ghost the first time you hit the button.

Good luck in getting it back running ASAP!

Well I got my starter replaced today. We pulled the old one out and WOW it was bad...the motor windings had come undone and the dealer said they've never seen anything like it, they don't even know what could have done it. I tried posting a video of it but it won't allow me too. It's pretty bad though, if anyone is interested PM me and I will send you the video by email.

Alright, well I have run into a few snags. This has been quite a fiasco with the exhaust and the latest one still doesn't fit up correctly, concidentally I am canceling the exhaust. The graphcis are on and look pretty good. I will post pictures of them tomorrow hopefully. I am going to take the money I was going to use on the exhaust and put it towards suspension. I will be using Zip Ty racing most likely as they have been very helpful in the past and are know a quite a bit about the husky's. Hoping to ride tomorrow, but it is supposed to rain another inch tomorrow and it rained an inch today...rain rain go away

I'm sorry about your exhaust. :excuseme:

I have a Cory Graffunder's Husqvara Full factory race system which fits your bike if you want it? I will have to ask Ty if I can even sell it or not, but I can tell you that there is no better exhaust made.

Yea i'd do that, but how much? I paid in the end $560 I think for this system.
