• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

83 CR500, here begineth the lesson

love the bottles of loctite..its the only way.... reliability increase and approved by the factory......wish i knew this in my bultaco days ! nd by the way that rim looks like a 10 x 17 or 18 let alone a 5 x 17 or 18!
High temp loctite for internal engine stuff, don't like to use it too much. Rims are 4.25x17 and 3.5x17 .

Got some new shoes this weekend. So did the wife, mine were half the price though....

Waiting again, vapor blasting of head barel and new cases. Measured up the back wheel though, offsets look fine and I can get a 140 section tyre in. New spacer on the non drive side needed due to butchery. I just got a hefty PPI claim off the bank so I'll pay off my credit cards....or... there is another 83 on ebay for resto, a 430 WR, no no no no no no no NO ****************************************!

Good ideas both, might see if I can make some up. I'll be trying to stop on tarmac so will need all the help I can get!!!

Save a stator mount today ! Blasted and put up in a lathe . Feels and machines like magnesium so a light coat of PJ1 to seal the blasting.

Is anyone else using piston shims?, when i did the top end on my 84 500CR, i thought it was odd Husky didn't use them on the open bikes  . We even triple
check the parts manuals & they only called them out use in the 250. At the time i said well Husky must know something i don't, which i've got to say is a lot

From what I can gather, the original piston on the 430 does not need them but the aftermarket Wiseco does need them? I could be wrong but it all looks good assembled and the piston looks well designed for them.

No the original 430 piston doesn't have any spacers..

Found a good way of bringing the black plastic airbox back to life...black shoe polish...!!
