• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Actual news on the KTM purchase of Husqvarna

First step today we got info from HMNA .To hook up with Freedom Financial for in house financing reasonable rates .Been really missing BMW finance. Its good to see things happening,I got 14MCOs today signed by a new managing director Werner Kastenauer .

That sounds pretty promising to me. I like the tone of that release. KTM is not going to kill Husky. They have saved it from certain demise under BMWs control.

I hate to add to the crystal ball gazing but.... You would think SP would have to be pretty proud of where he has taken KTM from where it was when he first became involved, its pretty impressive. Maybe he's looking for that "next challenge"?
You could say that it has happened so many times that a "passionate" businessman has attempted to do great things in the motorcycle industry and its all fallen flat, but there is no denying SP has the smarts to pull it off and make Husky a true individual powerhouse.
Thats what Im hoping for anyway....time will tell.

So, those commercials on the TV really are meant for me .....

Some Husky News from our South African Side--

Breaking News: Herlings KTM-Husqvarna Deal

There has just been an unveiling here at the Netherlands GP, with local hero Jeffrey "The Bullit" Herlings announcing that for the 2014 World Championships, he will be riding for the Husqvarna Racing Team. After KTM's recent takeover of the Italian brand, this is seen by many as a way of promoting that bike and elevating its status so that it can start t...o be considered one of the "big six" in the near future.
When asked about his decision, Jeffrey Herlings said: "I'm excited for the opportunity, KTM have been great to me and I believe that with some good testing and work, I can make this new Husqvarna bike competitive for the upcoming year. I always like to challenge myself and I think this could be a great opportunity!"
Of course this will now end speculation about Jeffrey's future in America as Husqvarna are unable to compete stateside due to the bike homologation rules.

And... where will Jeffrey's bike be built??!

Sounds like great news. I assumed Herlings was moving to MX1 in 2014 and riding a 350/450 although I don't follow the GP's as much as I would like to. Any news on the class he'll be riding for Husqvarna? Fun kid to watch.

I hope Jon-EIrk Burleson remember the powerhouse Husky was in the US when his dad was part of the company. Maybe he could hire his dad back to Husqvarna. If Scot Harden could come back and Dick Burleson wow how cool could that be.

Have a listen to Pit Beirer:

What's the date on the Herlings to Husky 'story'?

I've certainly not seen it in major Euro MX sites. The Husky being unable to race because of homologation rules - well, there's a bit of BS for you. KTM / Pierer / Husky could just settle that 'issue', quickly. Ala; the way they homologated the bike for Dungeys use.

Herlings - has, so far, expressed no interest in SX - he's an MXer, not a SX wannabe.

And there's Nothing wrong with being either.

That's the main reason some Europeans / other continents / countries riders go to the USA - they want to do SX, moreso than MX - just as Chad Reed, and others, wanted to do SX. Fair enough.

Herlings can / will make multiple fortunes doing the World Championships (through wages, bonuses, contingencies - they exist elsewhere than just the 'states, readers, and at very high levels, for the very highest level riders), European Countries Nationals, and International Races, be they MX, or things like major Beach Races.

Though, he of course, could change his mind - he's only 18.

The priority will be to run the two brands separately and maintain dedicated Husqvarna staff and dealer network,
wherever feasible.
Dedicated here means staff that intend to stay with a substantial cut in pay.

April 6th is 17 years in business,March 15th my 40th anniversary in the motorcycle business.Husqvarna dealer since 1999 .
