• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Any sightings yet?

Hi-Flo HF154 comes up on Hi-Flo's site when I put in 800081675. When I put in 8000B0593, I get nothing.

Updates:

1. My bike shipment was delayed due to Memorial Day weekend. Estimated delivery is "on or before the 16th".

2. Hall's says that the oil filter is either the Hi-Flo HF154 or HF563 or a K&N KN-154. That corresponds to the old 610 filter number. I was under the impression the filter had changed on the 630.

3. Hall's is working on getting an electronic copy of the owner's manual from Husky, which they will in turn send me via email.

Being a dirtbike newbie, what is the deal with the two oil screens inside? Do you clean them and put them back in, or replace them? Hall's is telling me that the external screen filter is replaced (not just cleaned and put back in) at every oil change. The internal one is replaced at valve adjustment intervals.

Where are you all sourcing Hi-Flo filters and screens for the bike? I could get oil filters for my sportbikes at any old auto parts store. As a matter of fact, my ZX-10R and my car used the same one.

Cycle gear has the k&N. I've seen the hiflo ones in a lot of shops.

I think I can get the Hi Flo filters at a local bike parts shop. The last time I went there I had no part number and he had no record of the 630 in his books/computer at all.

Do you just clean the screen, or is it to be replaced at every oil change?

I was starting to think, "Great, it's even hard to find oil change parts for this bike, what have I gotten myself into?"

Now that I'm figuring it out, It's not so bad. :)

I like to do my first oil change early, at around 100 miles. You can't change it too much, I say. When I was having problems coming up with an oil filter part number, I was getting worried that I wouldn't be able to do that, or I'd have a bike sitting around with 100 miles on the odometer while I tracked down filters.

Clean ALL the screens, drain ALL the oil, replace the paperish filter. Ive never seen anything with so many filters and plugs before. Not hard once you learn the routine, but a bit of a surprise at first. I liked my Honda CRF450X with separate top end and gearbox oil systems. Easy to service and kept the gear bits out of the top end.

There is more than one? Where? Sorry for the dumb question, but I don't have a manual, and have never worked on a Husky before. I assume I can find the oil filter and the drain plug, just wonder where the screens are, and assuming the 630 is the same as the 610?

One screen is behind an engine case cover and is only scheduled to be cleaned at valve adjustment intervals. The other one is to be cleaned at each oil change.

As far as exact locations go, I can't help you there. I'm a Husky virgin as well. My bike isn't even here yet.

Drain plugs (2). Oil filter. Left side bag filter (two screens within one).

The above comes out at every oil change.

Right side bag filter. Comes out at every valve adjustment, and require cover removal.

I had meant too put this on here a while back, but am usually over on Supermotojunkie.com in the Husqvarna section as I sadly, rarely get too go off-road due to my location. But everyone likes some pictures, so here's some pics of my SMS630. It's one of the first 20 in the UK and possibly the 33rd out of the factory, though I may have just made the last bit up after seeing a stock number.

Here's the thread I posted on Supermotojunkie :

Absolutely love this bike after having traded in an 08 610 and previously couriering on an 06' 610 in the past.

SM S630 2010 In London Town UK  :notworthy: :D  :applause:

My TE is 15th off the assembly line, if the VIN is any indicator of that. This is the firs time I've been on the cutting edge of a new bike model. Hopefully it goes well!

Hey London 610 how does the 630 c/w your 610's.
And is your goalie going to get dropped.

I received my owner's manual today. I have both a paper copy and a copy on a 1GB Husky branded flash drive.

Here are some notable things from the scheduled maintenance chart:

1000km/621.37mi
check valve clearance
change oil
clean oil intake filter (I suppose this is the screen)
replace oil filter cartridge
clean air filter

5000km/3106.85mi
check valve clearance
clean spark plug
check spark plug cap
change oil

10000km/6213.71mi
check valve clearance
check exhaust rocker arms
replace spark plug
check spark plug cap
change oil
clean oil intake filter
replace oil filter cartridge
clean or change air filter (depending on condition)

15000km/9320.57mi
check valve clearance
clean spark plug
check spark plug cap
change oil
clean or change air filter (depending on condition)

20000km/12427.42mi
This is the same as the 10000km maintenance interval, and 25000km is the same as the 15000km maintenance interval. You get the idea.

For oil, it says "Castrol Power 1 Racing 10W-50".

For coolant, it says "Castrol Motorcycle Coolant".

Now, if anyone knows what all I need for tools to check the valve clearance, that would be great!

The owner's manual doesn't go into it. I'll probably need to get my hands on a repair manual pretty quickly.

Does Halls have another 630 they could look at? It could work like the other TEs right? If so I made a video in the tech ref section.

It's probably pretty close to the other DOHC engines. I'll see what I can get out of Hall's. Heck, maybe they can even get me a repair manual.

I'll bet that with the head from the 450/510 that the tools needed for those bikes would be what you'd need also.
