• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

As much as I am not wild over the KTM/Berg thing...

I guess we need to take a close look at this bad boy. Too bad Juha isn't on a WR125 this weekend too!

sweet looking bike. Now if it had the ultra reliable and 165able motor, linkage, ergonomics and amazing steering husky has it would be perfect :D

My favorite bike ever...

Last year when I was looking for a new bike I wanted one of those bikes. But I was told they are not available in the US. That's what made look at the Husky in the first place. I'll never look back on my decision to buy my bike, but I thought that little KTM was a great looking bike.

The KTM is a good bike but IMHO the husky handles a good bit better, has a more durable motor, better suspension design, has better ergonomics, better seat, and can be had for much less money.

Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, yep, and yep :D.

Can't speak for that KTM about it's handling, but I sure as hell can speak about mine, It's ballsy and handles like a dream. Price wise it was a no brainer for me to buy this bike. But I have to say it would have been fun to ride that KTM. I'm just saying......

Not as simple as the 250/300 set up, but easier than the Husky 125/150/165 deal.

That is generally what one finds on the internet. The height of the main flapper can be adjusted for example the 200sx had the starting point 1mm higher than the 200exc back in 2004. If you do want to play with the springs like the wallybean kit it is much more effort to do that. That is a convient little window to see what it is doing.

I rode a 2012 KTM 450sx with a linkage this weekend. I actually liked it a lot. It had way to much motor for the woods but handled nice, feels light and worked very good. The owner rode my decked out 04 165 and loved it and was a good bit faster on it. He really liked my 165 and did not want to give it back. I really liked his KTM 450 but the more I rode it the more I wanted off it. The brutal power and need to man the clutch incisively made it less fun by the mile. Felt hero on it for the first few miles then started wearing on me. For a semi stock KTM 450 SX in the woods it was surprisingly good though. I was not man enough to ride it all day as fast speeds like i can my 165 though. I got slower and slower on it.

Oh man, then you probably wouldn't like the FE501. I rode my 511 back to back with the FE501 today. Handling and stability goes to the 501, much more stable platform on that bike than my Husky. Power wise, the 501 was pretty close to my modified 511, but the 511 was snappier. I was impressed with the 501 power because it is stock and still very close to mine.

Had BMW spent the last three years upgrading and caring about the 511 it wold be right there. Instead they lowered the rear end and called it done. To this point I rode the BMP TXC511 with Watson suspension and think I would rather have that than the KTM 450 I rode. All good bikes these days. My main point was I kinda hated KTM handling up to this point and never got along with PDS. This bike and to some point a KTM 350 with a linkage seemed to work for me. In fact the SX model KTMs are the ones I like best (linkage) as they feel more normal to me. I know many people say the PDs is as good or better than anything else but not for me. Interestingly the owner of the 450SX who is a fast socal guy said he had several KTM PDS bikes he could never get 100% used to after many revalves etc. He bought the SX because it had the linkage and said all of a sudden there was no more issue for him. I feel the same way.

I rode a KTM 500 the other day. Liked the motor a lot, hated how it felt and handled. PDS. Wise KTM or Berg or Husky now would go back to linkage on the off road bikes. Is that happening?

The suspension style you are referring to is what Husqvarna is calling their MX bikes. Where as the PDS is on their Enduro bikes. There is going to be a mix of both available to customers.

I want enduro bikes with linkage. I also want it in a TE150 package please. TE200's would also sell very well in the US.
