• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

B E T A the super Tuscan.

Mike Kay

Once there was a small family owned Italian dirt bike maker, with red and black and white bikes for racing. Ya didnt seee many on the trails, but guys who did ride and race them had a burning passion for the rare bikes. The US importer was totally dedicated, helped out local racers, and kept their fingers on the pulse, growing the brand one happy customer at a time. A small but very capable core of dealers and the internet kept it all on two wheels.

Then things changed. For some the changes where a good thing. For others, not so much.

With the many changes its no stretch to say many a Husky rider/racer with a now long in the tooth 450/510 or 250/300 has gazed far and wide for his or her next scoot. For a time i was one of them.

Like Moses and the Jews i wondered the deserts. I tried out a teutonic conglomeration, I rode Orange. I rode Red. Hell, i raced Red. Marveled at backwards motors and Ebikes and even looked into stuffing a xr400 motor into a TE250 chasis...

Then in March of 2013 I bought a Beta.

Its now been four months of joy. Four months of heaven. Four months of ease. Four months of newfound happiness. I own a Beta 450RS, and Im a really really happy guy.

SO if you find yourself with a 3-10 year old Husky and its about time for a fresh bike....do yourself a favor and take a good hard look at the Beta's.

Been on this bandwagon for a couple of years now..... just thought BMW was going to build Husky into a KTM sort of top tier mainstream EU offroad brand.........so I bought a 2013 TXC310R to supplement my TE310 (DS machine).......
MK and all the CH crew, if I did not buy the TXC310R as well as with the current Husky sitrep I would be in the midst of riding my new Beta 300RR 2T machine.

I for one am not ready to jump ship. My Wr 300 has been a work in progress and now we are getting along just fine.BUT watching the Husabergs doing so well in extream enduro has sparked my intrest.Plus reports say Gram Jarvis and His team mate Alfreado Gomez will be on Husky just think if Letti is also on a Husky
There would be a team and think of the money they will have for devoloment so for now I will be loyal to my Husky which has never let me down and gets me great results

Ajax Im a fan of your WR300(250) as well.
My take is that I like that its a RH drive machine just to be different and not another clone of all the other brands and models. ( the LH drive Husky 125/144 is a cool beast as well).

I'm pretty happy with my current stable and it covers everything I need and setup the way I want them. If I was shopping for a new bike I'm not sure it would be the new rebadged KTM's and am interested to see where this husky thing goes. I think at this point if looking for a new bike it would be the 300 Beta 2 stroke. All that said I am holding out hope for some nice new Huskys that are a large departure from the current KTM line but all I hear is basically the husky name is replacing the Husaberg name which in my mind means mostly rebadged KTM's which makes no sense from my standpoint as I can already buy one of those should I choose. I did hear some very cool news today about some efforts with the new huskys / KTM which I liked and am happy about (not going to say a word so don't ask) and hope for good things. Time will tell.

Betas, TM, Sherco, GG... if you want unique ero bikes there are still very nice choices.

Beta seems to be picking up where Husqvarna left off. Small family owned company in Italy, over 100 years old. The American importers are great to work with as well ( former KTM employees), I don't think you will be hearing of distribution problems.

I too thought BMW was going to turn Husqvarna into a KTM killer.....

Good advice Mike. Beta sparked my interest a while ago.

Though as long as I can keep my bikes running, I'm not sure I have a need.

I had that KTM 200 for a short time and was really impressed but I hope I never try a 300 because I'd be broke lol. I can hold out until fuel injection though

I've been riding a Beta 400, It's everything and more of my TXC 450. A taller, less shifting gear ratio stands out. JO

Having owned a Beta trials bike I would not hesitate to buy another Beta. However I doubt a Beta would be a better tall man bike than my WR250.

aahhh just got the august dirt bike... is the 300 EFI the parts list for Cody Webbs 300rr says engine mods & EFI mapping by Posey racing i looked real close at a 250rr at the MORE race Sunday [the nephew won the class again the only 144 on the line 3 for 3 so far] it had a carb is cody's bike EFI ???

I read on one of the reviews that it has a tighter layout. I imagine they were comparing it to a KTM.

I am 6-3", so I have the same concern. The Beta's have traits of the trials bikes, the seat height is a little lower, but the bars are high and forward making a very good standing position. There are also three positions for the bar mounts. When you have long legs like us, I am not sure , 1/2 -1" in seat height makes much difference. Beta does offer tall seats.

The WR250/300 is definitely the largest/roomiest bike I've ever ridden. With that being said, even at almost 6'7" I still found it a bit excessive and preferred the tighter, more aggressive cockpit of the x-lite chassis of my 150. Maybe if I'd kept it longer I would have learned to love it?

The TM's are a tall bike too and the ergos feel quite close to the x-lite, which I find pretty famn close to perfect for my taste.

Those Beta's look great, but my nextbike is probably going to be a '14 TM 250 or 300MX. They're making exactly what I'm looking for with the exception of adjustable bar clamps on the top triple. With the new 300 2stroke class in the GP's next year I expect they are going to give this platform a lot of attention like they've done with the 125/144 the last couple years.
I wanted to jump on the TM band wagon, but their reputation for stiff suspension and aggressive power delivery just want work in the Tennessee mountains.

I am throwing this out there, not for any dispute ,for no other reason than that I am a TM Racing (small artisan brand) bandwagon backer and want all Italian/EU bike fans to think about this......much media reporting and personal ride notes have been made about the AA racer aggressive power and suspension style of the TM Racing machines especially the 2T models.
These bikes come with Kokusan ignitions, I'm sure one can easily find a comparable FFW from Steahly or another manufacturer that would bolt right up onto the industry standard Kokusan rotor (flywheel) to tame the beast, as well as (if it doesnt come with them?) a steel clutch plate set to add more mass to the drive line. As for suspension, we all know how much can be done with that, from full SX stiff to extreme enduro plush. I love the OEM Beta 300RR set up they are engineered and set up for enduro/xc, but even if the TMs are setup more to the extreme side (they are) anything can be adjusted.
