• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

B E T A the super Tuscan.

I would love to play with a 250 T in the woods just see what one was like. It wonder if they will make a tweener like my WR 150 in the years to come ?

I think there is enough chatter here to have a Beta section if there is not to much resistance. It is a Husky site but we talk about a lot of stuff and are basically just a good group of helpful people regardless of brand.

I think we all have other bikes in the garage next to the Husky. I've had a couple of KTM200's over the last 4 years

We will definitely be adding areas of this site, but 2 things need to happen first.
  • A meeting which will finally take place tomorrow
  • I want to see what the 2014s are going to be

I've said it before, my 2013 Beta 300rr is the best stock bike I've ever owned. I took the bone stock bike and raced it and have done well, just wrapped up the A vet championship in the AMA western national hare scramble series. My beta has a California street licence plate because I got lucky with the VIN # which realy ads to the cool factor even though i never ride on the street.

My 2012 cr165 is still my bike of choice when it comes time for fun, it's a crying shame that the best bike in the Husky lineup is going away. I've been talking to Walt about the possibilities of maxing the stroke on the 165 for even more fun, stay tuned.......

Meeting? I'd throw the 449/511 in with the other dead Beemer bike section (terra/strada). Sorry had to do it lol.

Dang Troy!!! Esse Vu Emme!! wow thats what the Varese folks should rename/ressurect and build. I rode only one, in Catania Sicily in the late 80s!! It was a 125, pretty sure it was this model. (We are so sick and twisted in our moto love fest here!!).......

I need to argue this super tuscan thing....... my GF is the the only super tuscan in my book!! She's flesh and blood from the source!!! PS thanks for checking in George!!

For $2500 more it is as good as my 511 :D Well now that I got the Zipty remap and suspension I'm guessing my 511 is far better. Since those two mods I am hard pressed to think of any 450 class E-start plated bike I would rather have. Stock for stock the 511 makes more power with less CC's, better milage, and quieter.

I assume your other half is also sick of hearing about bikes and read this thread ;). My wife said dirt bikes have "consumed" me since the race lol
I really never thought I would think dirt bikes would look so amazing. I always reserved dreaming for MV's and Ducatis lol

You give a chart that showed the testers liked the Beta over the Husky but the manufactures published data trumps this?

Uh no I posted the result of thier test. They said the subjective rider scores were slightly higher for the Beta and the actual performance scores favored the Husky (better HP, torque, quieter, better MPG... and thats with the silly very corked stock can). My personal 511 with a different muffler and $40 remap is WAY faster than stock. Then factor in that the husky can be had for thousands less and there is a clear winner in my book. That several thousand dollars you can buy a lot of stuff to remap, redo the suspension and add protection. Add into that they said the husky was more comfortable, had better ergonomics, had great traction with the CTS and a rad fan. The Beta did not start well and they said drained the battery so they had to kick start it. Forks were semi harsh on the Beta, seat was uncomfortable, and it was not as composed on the street. Sounds like the husky was a set of tires away from winning this test. And I actually think the actual data (performance) side of it is more telling than the subjective side where people are going to like the new kid on the block and the media seems to want to hate on the husky. I rode a 450 Beta, it was very nice but just another good bike in a long list of good bikes IMHO.

Lots of nice bikes out there, choose which one you like and ride.

In the 2 stroke lineup it does seem Beta has huskys number as they started with a new design and are developing it nicely where husky sat on there old bikes forever. Still good mounts but getting real long in the tooth.

Lets try a real test, not backed by mag dollars, here's one. http://www.enduro360.com/2012/04/05/products-tested/2012-husqvarna-te511-review/
You also did not allow him his opinion on his site, you tried to sell it to him too. He road it for more then two days in the desert and didn't have ad dollars to sell.
