  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Beware all 13 redhead owners. Blown hose & more

Theses motors run hot not sure why sounds like oil lube problem, have a weak connecting rod design that may also be a oil related problem I am not really sure to be honest. I changed oil every 2 rides or 2 hours with full synthectic oil cleaned air filter as needed and ran filter skin. I am c rider that was not riding bike WOT all the time. I really take good care of my bikes and generally have good luck with all my motorized toys I have since I do not try to wreck shit. This TC250 has a history of problems I found out after phoning around to shops to find out how to fix it.
The connecting rod isn't weak, it just doesn't allow enough oil to pass through the crank and the rod bearing. We offer a crank mod for $100 that modifies the oil path through the crank and rod bearing, allowing more oil and higher hp due to less friction. Also, instead of running 50 weight oil, per the manufacture's spec, we run 0W40. This increases oil flow from 28 to 46% depending on 50 weight oil brand you previously used. The stainless steel oil filters typically increase flow availability 7 to 1 which is especially useful during cold starts.

thats one sweet shop right there.

nice drawing......hey that thing is copyrighted!! for official use only!!! Or by permission of the author only...

OK Tinken you can use it as needed to clarify and to keep our cafe crew edumacated on the 'x-lite" oil pump filter flow route.

yep only the direct hose line up to the cam bearings, ps i still cant believe my cam bearing surface was virtually gall free after the gear shear no oil pump evolution. These synth oils are waaay good for heat and lube properties.

Tinken can the 2013 oil filter cover gasket be used with the 2012 o-ring only bikes? I do not know if it is a paper gasket or what on the 2013, I know awhile back you had an oil filter cover gasket on your site but it is long gone.

It is easy to get confused reading stuff about these oil filters (paper x stainless mesh).

I like my KTM RFS motor beacuse because it has 2 oil filters so I run one paper and one stainless!

Now with my TE310R I don't know what to do..... Stainless sounds better to me except for the "how to clean" issue.... Some people claim you need an agitator to properly clean them....

My KTM has two stainless filters. They are extremely easy to clean. I spray them down with carb/contact cleaner on the outside, then from the inside out. To clean them further, use hot soapy water, or just air dry them with compressed air from the inside outward. In a pinch, you can use gas, have done this out in the field. :)

What measurement is the pc racing SS filter?
I have a oem, hiflo 116 and a outlaw racing SS

They measure (overall length grommet included)

Oem 34.3mm
Hiflo 35.7mm
Outlaw SS 36.2mm

Worried this will cause a problem with oil flow around the filter??

The measurement for the oil filter housing is 37.5mm deep for filter to sit.

That's not leaving a lot of room in there.....

Any help?

Does that include the depth into the lid?
That only leaves you with 1.3mm which when you figure the area around the filter, it equals a 4mm hole. Kinda close, try flipping the grommet around, usually thinner on one side.

Yeah that includes the stub the oil filter grommet seals against.

Tried flipping grommet on SS filter and measures the same :(

Anyone want to measure their PC racing SS filter for me :)

Cheers

Anyone want to measure their PC racing SS filter for me :)

Pretty close to the same.

If you install it, make sure you press the filter into the cover first, then press the whole assembly into the motor.

'Wish I had seen all these measurements earlier; makes it easier to decide which filter to buy. I have the Scotts 2172 based on earlier discussions and just put my calipers on it; 34.1 mm according to my 40 year old Polish measuring device. Pretty close to OEM.

Yeah I'm thinking I'm going to get a Scott's filter, anyone got a link to purchase one? The outlaw SS filter I have is to close for comfort for me :(

Thanks for the help guys :)

Tinken are you guys running the PC Racing SS filter with no problems?

I am currently running a Hiflo116 which looks to be very close to the same measurement as the PC Racing filter.

There alot cheaper :) :)
