• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

5 minute ride to post office. first impression......like the pipe. the bike does stall a bit, not bad, think it might be cause its new and tight tolerances........no light that tells me in neutral?????not good...........but I think the bike is good .....very good. i have a te610 now from 2006 and this thing is much better for sure in dirt.........would it even be possible to make the speedo any smaller? ive heard of saving ounces but this Is ridiculous, im suprised the feds allowed that speedo thru the system........I don't care about that its hard to see speed........but I do want to know when im in neutral****************************************!!!no light for that?.......I like the spot already their for the aftermarket plug and play ignition key which I will buy.......im very happy so far . its extremely light and agile. I wonder if I might want to change the sprockets around a bit to get some good highway speed without over revving???????

Yes, for highway use the stock sprockets are a bit low geared. Motosportz Kelly (you can pm Motosportz) runs something like a 48 on the rear for highway use. That works fine if you arent also doing low speed single track. Ride the thing around a couple of weeks/500 miles, break it in.

I also had a 610 before my 511. 511 is a more refined package, but less of a highway capable dual sport. Check the Zip-Ty section and you will find some good ideas about how to further refine the bike. Tinken, you've met, is our local Zip-Ty connection; they and Motosportz are your best accessories vendors.

BMP in Salem Oregon knows this bike well and ships everywhere, and as already mentioned, Halls in Illinois is your neighborhood Husky expert.

what did you do with your te610? im half considering keep both bikes now.............use one for road use one for dirt.......oh, life is getting complicated.....I would prefer to only have one bike for both uses.....road and dirt......and to me its obvious so far that the 2006 te610 is the better off road /highway use mix bike...........BUT I WONDER IF THE NEW TE511 CAN BE RETROFITTED TO perform better for off road/highway mix than my 2006 te610? I dont want to have too many motorbikes and cars and trailers. etc.........it makes life too difficult......but as I have said im not happy with the te511 on the interstate.....I think tinken had a bike with trials tires on it that might help the te511 on highway??????????????????????

Terra is better highway than 610, less dirtworthy but great on gravel roads. I do very little pavement riding so dualsported TXC449 works good for me. My TXC511 is set up for offroad racing.

Sold the 610 a couple years ago.

I want both. so we are different. you want more dirt I want both.......dirt/pavement....im coming to realize that the 610 achieves that......now the question is ,,,,,,,can I alter the te511 to do that? I would prefer not to have two bikes. I did sit on terra when I was at dealer....it looked good. but I got a call from a potential buyer for my te610 yesterday and he said he was same height as me (6 ft. 3 inches) and he said the bike was too short for him......that is what I like about the te610....it has monster height.......I am tall and I can barely put both feet down!...... the new te511 is a bit shorter.......but still tall......I wonder if the terra would be in midget territory? I guess once a dirt rider always a dirt rider even if that means suffering in the saddle on the highway? im 52 years old and don't want to get old suffering......part of me wants to get the terra......I wonder if I rode one what it would be like ............but no demo bike to be had. it kind of stinks the only way to try a bike is to buy one.

IM CONCERNED THE TERRA IS A SHORT BIKE? I THINK MY BODY WONT FIT ON THAT THING

Im about the same size and i suspect I would get a taller seat if i had a Terra. I spent about 30 mins on one last fall. Feels like a hopped up GS650 BMW...

I sat on a Terra and it was uncomfortably small for me. Although, I am one of the few that raised my 511 up 2.5 inches. I would go sit on it if I were you.
Terra:
Seat Height: 34.4 in.
Curb Weight: 407.8 lbs.
TE511:
Seat Height: 37.5 in.
Dry Weight: 255.7 lbs.

I love my TE 449/511 but it is a dirt bike with a plate. The only time it should be on the interstate is to and from a dirt trail or on a trailer. IMHO

:)

but its a bike that is fun on the interstate.........I think I bring my te610 to calif. and have it tricked out for dirt/road.....im still running metzlers on it......i think taming the tires alone will make me feel more comfortable on calif. highways.....In iowa we have only farmers to deal with........

I bitch about the 511.........but its sweet to look at........just think if you tricked it out!.....if husky gets rid of 511.....possible it will be a real gem? next year when its unavailable.........husky,,,,,,blowout sale right now........their must be a lot of anticipation of whats up their sleeve??????????????????

I don't know what you're talking about. I have a buddy who commutes to work 30 miles each way every day to work on the TE511. His is geared up and runs a Scotts stabilizer. He loves his Husky.
