• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I don't know what you're talking about. I have a buddy who commutes to work 30 miles each way every day to work on the TE511. His is geared up and runs a Scotts stabilizer. He loves his Husky.
WHERE IS OAK HILLS. NEAR SACRAMENTO?

I had an 06' TE610 when I bought my 511 and I held on to it for a year but rode it maybe once. I still think the 610's are the best
true dual-purpose bikes ever. With the six speed WIDE-RATIO trannies they're comfortable on the freeway and dirt. I lowered the gearing
on mine for the trails but it still could do freeways. If I had that tranny in my 511....total perfection. I finally sold the 610 because it was
just collecting dust. I'm pretty much a dirt guy but if you do a lot of freeway I'd hold on to that 610. 06' was a good year.
BTW, if you want the workshop manual for the 449/511(very detailed) I'm sure you can find it here. I've got the 2011 one I'd be happy to e-mail to you.

very kind of you . im very confused. very confused. one nice fellow here (remaining nameless) Is suggesting I get only one bike. that In the long run, one good bike is cheaper money than two average ones.......im already pissed about the manual for the te511.......if you could post the pages for the oil change. I would appreciate it....I tried to print my manual.........440 pages****************************************************************************************************************************************************************! and my printer broke........I want to change my oil on my new te511 but the pics. look confusing??????? not easy like my te610..........I think my te610 is in good shape. I havent ridden it much . but I don't think I maintained it very well.....now im finding out from guys like you that the te610 Is really a decent dirt/road mix bike???? what I do know is the te511 is finiky more than the old te610.....and the new te511 is faster than shi+ off the line. in dirt. useless on pavement.......ive been given advise to maybe buy a ktm? Im in sacramento in summers , where do you take your bike their? maybe I will take my te610 their when I get their next month.....have it tricked out? do you really think the te610 if tricked out can last me a few years more?

sounds like we are similar. im coming to sacramento with a toy hauler .......and ONE bike, i I think the te610 ...(it hasn't been ridden much but i haven't maintained it very good I guess. changed oil once per year. not much else other than air filter cleaning....i haven't ridden it much, though. maybe a month a year.....I think if I can get a good mechanic to go over it now, It can still be saved??????? the te610 is a decent looking bike, and tricked out, it could be a beauty? I agree, its OK on dirt, a bit heavy, but that weight shines when on interstate. im still running the stock metzlers on it (they are cheap) , but if I toned down the tires on it a bit more. I think it would do freeway work decently? I suspect you are using motoexotica as a dealer their? im totally confused, either I get rid of both my current bikes......(te511 new, at a loss, and older te610) and buy a ktm dual sport.......or keep my huskys and bring the te610 out their , update it. and keep my new te511 here as a mainly dirt bike......im leaning toward that........I think when im traveling around in my camper I want a road oriented bike.......I don't want to be in the boonies in a strange neighborhood and get stuck in mud with no phone signal if you know what i mean..WHAT TIPS CAN YOU GIVE ME ABOUT COMING TO SACRAMENTO AND GETTING MY TE610 TRICKED OUT? WHO?

we have the exact same bikes almost. maybe we could meet in sacramento for a ride? are you using your 511 on the road much? wondering if in calif. if you run a fmf on rear the anal calif. cops get pissed at that?

Call Dan or Ann at MotoXotica when you get in town. They're just a 45 minute drive from Sac to Vacaville. They will
take care of you. Don't use Good Times (The local Husky Dealer) for parts or service. Trust me on that. (I hope I didn't just break any rules for saying that.)
Ok, IMO don't.......
I don't use my 511 for street other than to connect trails and no, never had an issue with the FMF nor have I ever seen anyone get sound checked at
any of the areas I ride. I mean it has a built in spark arrester so I don't see how it could be illegal. I've never had any issues with Rangers or cops. Not saying
it couldn't happen to you but.
As for the idea of selling the Husky's to get a KTM, really ? Which KTM are you thinking of ? Have you checked out the prices for new KTM's ? If you think
KTM's will be less finiky than Husky's I would re-think things. Your 610 is about the most bulletproof dual sport there is if you take care of it. I kinda get the
feeling that you're not going to be riding a lot of Black Diamond Single-Track huh... I mean the 610 is a great trail/dirt road and hop on the freeway and ride home
type of bike. Don't know what to tell ya about the 511 other than probably not your cup of tea. I could help you sell it if you'd like. :D

send me an email........yogavnture@yahoo.com .........lets talk. im coming to sac. this summer. i just bought a ktm 690 endure r.......im more impressed on the road with that thing than the te511......not going to compare in the dirt yet.....but its obvious the ktm 690 has much more speed potential on the road.........ive only been on it once so far.but 6th gear was at about 60 mph....

i just bought a ktm 690 enduro r........new.......been out on road just for a mile so far.............i think i will just sell my te 610 2006 as the bike is just too much like my new ktm...........people talk about the old bikes, but technology is improving and i don't want a garage full of old bikes........i want a garage full of bike i ride!......hate to sell the old te but the new ktm has taken her spot........

I bought a ktm 690 enduro r...........what the hell......its only money............only been out 5 minutes so far but the gear box is a lot wider than the te511 and the last year kicks in at 63 mph..........the te wont even go that fast on highway without severe shaking .........im too old for that crud.........at some point , its best to go with new technology,? and dump these old bikes??????????life is too short not to have the best********************************************************************************!!

I don't want redundant bikes.......the newer ktm 690 should womp all over the older te610..............time to sell it......apparently these te610s are in demand in calif for some reason............WHY??????????

you are comparing apples and oranges. One is an off road trail and race bike and the 690 is a big DS bike made for the street.

I don't think even the amazing talent Cory is he could do this on the 690, no way.

Fantastic simple hammer of a bike that splits dirt and street better than about any bike made. As a street bike the 690 is better, as a off road bike far worse. The 690 is also way newer and cost 2x as much. Also WAY more complex and much harder to work on. Some people like a lighter, simpler do it all package and thats the 610.
