• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Fork seal replacement

I used the 39 11 52's with great results. was a wriggle to get the tubes in at first:rolleyes: but they run well, nice and plush...so far so good

I tried the 39 11 52's as well, they failed spectacularly at Canowindra, spewing oil all over my brake caliper and disk, clean tubes, no discernible fork bush movement, may have just been the quality of the seals?
Tony.

I tried the 39 11 52's as well-they do seem tight but I have no time on it yet. Hopefully they complement the rebuilt Ohlins.

Lots of lube on assembly, loads of lube passing the seals on Sunday!:rolleyes::excuseme:
Like I said though, likely the quality of the seals, I'll check the brand when I replace them.
Tony.

Gary,
Yes I've use Kawi seals for years now (92049-1251) , & like you said they work well.

thats how i install them..but i use a cut off piece of schedule 40 that is just longer than the compressed fork tube. different approach using a tee like that..

Look closely at the outside diameter of the seals there should be a little raised bit sorta like a half "o" ring.
Have bought ordinary seals from the bearing supplier that did not have this little thing on them.
Did not stay in.

how good is that ...which end do you use????

Either big end worked great for 40mm seals. I use a dead blow hammer to firmly smack the high location to drive them in. The PVC is thick enough that it didn't show any damage. Even if it did, the replacement is cheap!

funny we should mention seals, my rhs seal went yesterday:mad::mad: bike has sat for a long time so its to be expected

Great tip! I'll be stripping them down in the next couple of days so I'll have a good look at them. The worst part is, I used the same seals in the 250 so I'll be doing it twice.
Tony.

rode it today and its stopped leaking:thumbsup: the big drop off at broadford mx track fixed it right up:eek: near fixed me up

Been following this thread for a while and am looking for fork seals for 35mm Husky 78 CR250 forks, had a Honda part# but lost it Any suggestions?
Thanks Bill

I believe some RM85 forks are the same size.

I have fitted the 39mm seals in my bike and raced it twice now with no issues.

Previously I was running new bushes and brand new 'correct' seals that still leaked immed.
