• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

GS-911 service tool

I have some new info. I asked a friend who is closer to the development of the BMW side of it and he told me this.

"Dave

Yes they have been busy with a lot of development work for all the new models and the WiFi version, when they dont respond to emails you know they have locked themselves away to get development work done. Part of it all is getting a cloud service up and running for the WiFi model. People like me finding basic items which need improvement also slow things down a bit

The "emergency" functions for Terra/Nuda are in the latest test version I dropped in last night so final public release will not be far away

I asked yesterday for info on when the Terra/Nuda functionality will be released into a public beta and I am waiting for the response, will let you know as soon as I have the reply"

So I guess just to hang tight for awhile.

Need to find a TR650 in the Sydney Australia area to test with. Give a shout out if you can help out. Another correspondence.

Dave

Yes at the moment best to leave Hexcode alone, I know their people are hard at the grindstone and I have added to their workload with raising some technical telecoms issues based on my 40 years telecoms/IT experience as well as understanding some of the BMW car diags issues/failures

I keep raising the issue of Husky as it kind of also affects the 2014 Sertao/G650GS machines and all the guys seem to expect me to keep their needs in front of Hexcode

I am always confused as well with what is in public beta compared to the private testing version sitting on my WiFi unit, they need to release a public beta again as there is only the November 2014 release version out there at the moment which is another issue I have bugged them with

They have never really given me guidelines on what I should or should not say in public on progress etc so by all means indicate to Husky owners that there is progress but while I have their ear and they always fix any things I find or consider would be improved it is best I keep my nose clean

One thing I meant to ask is are there any Husky owners in Sydney who would be able to get in contact for some quick tests ?, I would need to take some gear to their place to do some testing and they would need to be reasonably educated, I could see what both Hexcode GS911 and some other software I have does

Dont know anyone with a TR, but i saw one in traffic the other day lol so there's at least 1 in Sydney...

talked with my dealer today, said they have replaced one ECU so far, I asked if I have an electrical problem will you be supporting this motorcycle, he said we're going to try. squeekie wheel gets the grease, keep on rockin that boat guys.

Good news maybe. Had a taker to test with the TR650 and the GS911, it don't work but the log/data files will be sent to hexcode.

A bit encouraging finally.

I may even be able to organize a gaggle for the next session....

Do keep us posted. I just got an email from Zool this morning, looks like another round of testing coming up.

| Hi Dave,
|
| We are beta testing emergency support for the Nuda900 and TR650 at the moment, and will announce it on our forum when ready.

Seems like the data from your last session has produced some positive result.

Just error logs. Apparently not a big deal to fix.
Will probably have progress in a couple of weeks as I'm away.

Am back in Sydney now

Just got back from a trip to Beemer Shop in Scotts Valley, Great Folks! Odd set of circumstances, was not a planned trip! But, they got me in out of the rain (I know, rain in California, who woulda thunk?) and made some time for me.
Good News, tool plugged in & read all my info! It read & could re-set my fault codes, but the tech did not think he could do much more. I think it may have re-set my ECU program (had it re-MOSS'd), but lane splitting in the rain is not the best indicator. I will do extended ride this weekend to determine.
Touched bases w/Ted Porter through e-mail, to quote:
" I may not be able to provide the best bike specific tech support since we don't have a lot of experience with this model, but we can certainly provide support on getting the GS-911 up and running and provide any help people need with the functions. My bet is we will see more functions later on for this model."

Today I was in a workshop for inspection, they are using the "Gutmann mo macs 50" tester. Works fine on my Terra. Reads fault codes from the control unit. Resets service interval display and some other things.

I looked up the "Gutman mo macs 50" and the website doesn't list a price for the unit from what I see. Interesting though.

Seems to be the same as what a basic GS-911 tool as developed for the BMW 650 will do when hooked up to a TR650 then ??
