  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Husqvarna SM 125 S with FMF

sm's don't have v force standard I'm sure but there is v force 3 that fits them, I'd go for it, cost about 120 pounds here, plus reeds wear out over time so an 08's are now 7 years old. Much as I like auto lube and I have a new pump if it ever breaks again I'm going to remove the oil tank underneath the seat, bolt on a battery box on the subframe and run premix, much easier getting to the air filter too cos atm have to life oil tank up out the way. Will be annoying on a tank range of 65 miles but better than a failed pump and broken engine [especially when it lets go without you realising and 50 mph uphill suddenly engine locks up rear wheel]

You have a great looking bike Tgraca. I am picking a '10 125 sms for my son next week end ( only 2800km, unrestricted engine but the rest is stock , looks neat except the silencer's tail that was cut with a hatcher, for 2200€ , could not find cheaper here ) and I am grabbing ideas from your project.

First off, the rear fender is exactly what I am trying to do, so I will look for the reference 80C0H0803
As for the front plate with extra lights, I was thinking doing the same but I was told it was mostly a 50cc thing in France so I am not so sure now. I'll see.
I am also looking for a nice stickers kit, the one they made for Hermunen was perfect, but I can't find it ...

Anyway, keep having fun riding in Portugal, I guess spring is already there , and keep posting nice pics and vids ;)

@gazmcfaza thanks for your explanation.;)

@manu I'm glad you like my project and grabbing ideas for yours :) Any detail that you need help feel free to ask me.

good rides with you sms

soon i will post pics of my bike with the new upgrades

Hi everyone. Nice bikes, especially love the look of the 320mm front disc posted earlier.

I've recently picked up a '10 sms 125 myself, which looks to be stock apart from vforce3 reeds and an aftermarket sprocket set.

Acceleration and handling is great but I'm getting poor fuel economy (14km/l or 32mpg~). Is this normal? I usually ride at 7500~ rpm. Bike isn't too difficult to kick start in the morning, and I don't get splooge out of the silencer.

Can't wait to start blinging out my ride but first gotta resolve this issue. Thanks for any help and sorry for hijacking the thread.

hi daineze, what transmission set you have? (front and rear sprocket teeths) Mine does more less 7 km/l.

hi harley, mine is this model "http://www.onestopmotorcycles.com/product.php?productid=16557", but one of the holes fail by 2 or 3 mm and I had to make new drilling.

thanks for your comments :)

regarding the fuel economy

the most fuel is consumed during acceleration.

so how fast is your throttle hand ;)

Just to check is your carb not spitting fuel out (float level)

maintain your air filter (clogged ones result in less power and opening the throttle more)

Extreme cases d-carbonize your exhaust, with a good burning process not a big issue but it could potentially rob a lot of energy that you try to compensate on the throttle position.

if this all is fine and a better fuel consumption is wished for look into a lectron

if even better millage is needed then it will cut in the smile factor (a NO go :naughty: You just bought the wrong bike)

Hi again.

Tgraca, funny it doesn't say on the sprockets, but if I were to guess 14-45t. Pretty good acceleration though there seems to be a bit of a flat spot at around 5.5-6k rpm. True top speed (according to trail tech vapor meter) is 120km/h or close enough but the motor's absolutely screaming then.

RJ, riding in the city forces me to twist the wrist a lot more than I should :D but when I'm on the highway I do a constant 7-8k rpm. I don't get much carb overflow, maybe just a few drops. Also recently got the belly decarbonised, (which improved throttle response a tiny bit) but the muffler does need repacking...

I wonder if taking the cat/cone washer out of the pipe will give better mileage (less rpms needed to get up to speed)? Can't get a street legal full system over here where I'm at so I have to make do with stock. Are there any other restrictions on the bike that need to go?

Oh yeah, I don't know what 2t you're all using but switching from motorex to maxima 927, the bike feels way smoother. I run 1:45.

Thanks for reading

My gearing is a bit different

on my WB 165 i run 12-50 and that is fun and brings me everywhere where there is no road

on the SM the stock gearing is plain crap for sure you get a top speed but a breeze in the wrong direction and your speed dropping down.

I changed it to 14-52 and it is much better in town. The 165 treatment for this one is matter of days so eager to see if the sprocket combo have to change.

I have to say that i rarely hit speeds above 110Km/hour, I am mainly in the 80-100 area (just in town)

when I need to go quicker longer distances I simply take another bike to do that.

wow 120 km/h are you sure?! =S

I have 13-42 and my bike side to side to CBR 600 made 154km/h(my vapor was showing 161km/h...a little gap but nothing special).

Maybe my silencer helps the top speed because it's an FMF TurbineCore 2.(http://www.fmfracing.com/Products/MX/62)

One of the changes that helped me to do lower mpg was the carburetor (from 28 to 36mm). of course in high rpm's it does higher mpg.
