  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

New 13 TXC 310

OK, if it's (mainly) over rev, maybe a slip on exhaust is already doing the job pretty well. Anyone has experiences with a Q4 from FMF? I love to keep the sound levels low...

I think there was a reply earlier in this thread that someone had tried the FMF slip on and said it didn't do much!! Freds exact quote was improved power every where and allowed the bike to rev out better!! Again I'm not much of a PC fan but if there the only ones doing a full system I might have to consider it. I did call FMF today they said they do have a race team using a full system at this time but have no idea when or if the system will come out!! I prob. won't be able to swing a full system tell mid season so just wait and see what happens!!

RD,

I do not know what color match up is on your silver frame. That silver uses less metallic in it and looks more like an industrial silver. The side covers, I would think an anodizer could match the darker grey, pretty easy.

Glad you like that thread. We get alot of compliments on that bike at the races. I stuck my 144 cylinder that I ported on it. I didnt put the spacer plate on it with both gaskets, cause i have one more final cut to make out of the tops of the ports yet. I also kept the balanced crank out of my old bike i still need to install. He's pretty happy with the power, as is. I have not put my carb on it yet, till he gets use to it. But when I do, I want to drag them down the field against the 310 just to compare it.

HW,

Good info!

RD, are you happy now?

Will do stator side next weekend. Have an idea on that side that think will look good. Probably need a gasket just in case.

I was hoping that the covers had the same good metal in them that the 2 Strokes had. I tested an area underneath before proceeding.

Pics, dont do them justice as looking at them in person. Clutch cover is so mirror like, you can see the brake lever reflecting in it.

I installed the map switch this weekend. Didn't like it at all. The bike ran rough and didnt start well on both maps. It didnt start at all in gear. The switch doesnt look very durable. No big deal, install was easy and so was un-install. Dont waste your money.

That's weird that it affected running.

Mine runs fine on both and starts fine.

I can't hardly tell the difference.

I agree to save your money.

I even verified plug in location behind number plate.

Be nice if they had three different end plugs like Kawi, etc.....

I think the map switch is useless. If you want more power buy and exhaust (your almost guaranteed a power gain with no sacrifice of engine reliability) or if you want smoother power try a fly wheel weight (simple and effective),

I may be too cut and dry but i prefer to use what is proven and what i know works. however hopefully i will sell my yz soon and begin my build on my '12 310. I will post a build up of parts and begin a thread when i start it but until now i just have to bikes in the garage.

The Map Switch wont give you more power . It "softens" the power in Map 2.

You cant change a flywheel weight at the flick of a switch !!!

Thats the whole point , with the Map switch , you have 2 different Maps available to quickly choose as conditions change.

I use (and like) the Switch in Muddy , Slimey conditions, works good .

Good to know, I guess I just need to try mine more.

The bike feels like when you twist the throttle, the power comes on instantly. Sometimes its a little too much power, but just takes getting used too. There is nothing that will change this abrupt hit of power. Throttle cams, map switches, flywheel weights or heavy tires arent going to help. the only thing that has helped me is ride, ride, ride and get used to it. No problem with that, I'm enjoying it!!1

A throttle cam will not change the power but it will help you manage it.

See, thats where I think youre wrong, because it comes on like a switch, i think the cam will only make it come on at a different time, but it wont make it come on softer. Just my thoughts, maybe i'm wrong.

I said it before I'll say it again its to bad the power doesn't come on smoother and then rev out longer!! I'm really hoping that when the guys at FAR get a chance to do some testing with there GET ECU they can find a combination that works to soften the entail hit and spread out the power!!! Man the bike would be perfect then!! But I have heard from several owners the more you ride it the more you'll like it!?!? with only 4 hours on it at this point I guess only time will tell.

BTW Darwin like the clutch cover... it looks factory!!!

It's a short stroke motor with a light flywheel. It is what it is, and you get what you get.

You live and you learn.

If and when, you ever take your stator cover off. Good luck getting the allen screws out to remove your stator and the pick up.
Actually, this issue turned into a blessing.

Went to remove 1 of the two allen screws holding stator. Bolt #1 snapped off with very little effort. So went and got my lil air impact. Bolt # 2 comes right out. But with some resistance, i had a feeling it was going to snap off, but didn't. Ok move over to remove both pick up allens. Both snap right off with ease.

Also, found one of the stator wires smashed from assembly at factory under pick up. Wire has covering smashed enough that wire is exposed/ grounding on cover.

So, each screw. I center punched carefully and squared up cover in drill press to drill out and use an easy out. All good on the three, drilled for easy out.

Easy out wont budge first screw. So took my torch and heated up area. Bingo, it comes out. Second one, same thing, heat comes out. Third, heat, wont budge. More heat, let cool, penetrating oil, heat, cool, more penetrating oil, reheat. Easy out snaps off way down in bolt. Can't drill easy out, out. Whomever, at factory filled each hole to top with loctite. I had to pick it out in the bottoms of the holes. My tap just kept pulling blue loctite out. Well cover ends up in trash can.

So moral of the story. Use caution if you need to remove stator/pick up. Also, stator cover is hard to get off since the crank presses into the bearing in cover. I used 2 big hose clamps around stator on opposite sides so I could pry it off. You have to pry it, getting under the hose clamp bolts, opposite sides. No way was I going to use anything between cover and gasket to pry it off. But this trick worked great. Cover has to come off evenly. This is only way to get it off without damage. You also have to tap it under the hose clamp bolts with a small rubber mallet, so cover breaks loose from the dowel pins.

Darin
You mised the footpegs .. and sub frame when it gets tired LOL
I like the polished kickstart - easy to do
You getting in much riding ? No starting issues ?
