• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Well a big list of parts are here and on the way

front fender
rubber fender mounts
rubber cones for handle mounts
CR 500 decals
3 pc black plastic kit
chain guard
splash guard
cable guides
chain roller
stock 85 CR 500 muffler
lever boots
rubber fork caps
tank decals
Decompression valve (Hope to fit 1 in and bump the squeeze up some more)

So now i need to find now
Is a mint 81/82 17" rim
Internal flywheel and magneto, I have the XC style

I would skip the 17 inch for an 18 inch, this is a rider, might as well give yourself the best options for tires. Anyway, great progress so far.

Well i might have a nice rim, if i win the bid.

Got the cases and cover painted, did the trim on the kick starter inside the clutch cover so it should engage a tad sooner.
Had a longer alloy kicker from my 86s left over so i am going to give that one a try, sits away from the head too.
Not so correct foot peg color, i just like the black look.
Low gloss black is on the pegs, pipe, triples and backing plates.

I really like this new Muff i got off ebay, its for a 86 500 CR.

No hose clamps has the O ring seal, super light and best of all straight threw.
May even cut it down in length for more noise. :)

That FMF dont flow, top end fell off the old owner said well i know the muffs suck on 2 strokes.
When my other FMF fell of my 400, wow did it wake up the power up top.

My choice in a gold paint, not sure if its all that close to stock.
But it matches the rims and Ohlins real good.

I friggen love this part, repainting and finding parts is fun to me lol

This 1 really brings me back to the very last bike i owned and rode the most.
The 82 430 XC i had for 8 years of all out thrashing and rebuilding it over and over, painting it back up to new every winter.

A bike to do every 2 months would be a great hobby.

Spent a few hours on the home made intake manifold that was on the bike.
Works great, just looked rough from all the die grinder carving.

So i hit hard with files and sand paper, damn near looks a OEM one now :)

Down to the last things to paint, shocks.

Would maybe like to do some color springs and get the right paint on the shock body.
Any one think a yellow top spring with a blue lower would like a nice touch?

Good or bad Idea...

I would go with yellow top spring and black lower spring(mine are that color on my or390 and it looks good to me!)

Steve,
what ive' done when i can't decide what color to paint something, take a picture of it & bring it in to "Paint"
on your computer. You can color the picture using the paint brush & then decide from there.
