• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Awesome!my brother used to have a '70 bronco with the 302,he sold it around 30 years ago and still regrets it!

So i got the internal flywheel the bike never had and hope to give that a test soon.
11 tooth front sprocket to snap her up a bit with the 4 speed box.
Might be time to see what some added timing will do with the easy starting situation.

Internal rotor, 11t sprocket, advanced timing... Reminds me of the Jeff Foxworthy "Hey, y'all, watch this..."

Time it to the 1984 timing specs, NO kick back or broken cases :applause:

How are you liking the 4spd gear box on the 500? Any desire to make it six speed now that you've been out riding?

I hate not having a normal first gear, feels like a salt flat bike.
You have ride the clutch a lot or dump it with a ton of gas.

I see you picked up an 11 tooth for the front. What are you running on th back sprocket wise? Debating whether I should replace the 4spd with a six speed on my 500 while I have it torn apart.

Wow the 11 tooth made a huge gain in first, felt dang near normal.
Low revs in first gear were responsive, not laggy or a bit of a bog.

That little sprocket looks like a chain stretcher though. lol
I got this 60 tooth rear coming from Huskydoggg and then was thinking about going back to a 12/13 front.
When it has the best hit all around with sprocket swaps, mag/flywheel swap time.

Well the 11 tooth and the flywheel made this bike awesome. Easy start still and revs instant in first gear, U turn in putt mode with no clutch not even close to a stalling situation.

Steve,
Yeah they said the 4spd was really only good for serious MX, in the original tests, & the 6spd were much more user friendly in the 84 tests.
I'd watch using that small of a sprocket, sure would suck throwing the chain thru the cases, & messing up such a awesome original bike:thumbsup: .
I'd go the 12/13 tooth with the 60t, if it was my bike.

oh yeah:thumbsup: , you go Steve. I was going to race my 500 this weekend, but my back was hurting me so i stayed home, probably next weekend.
