• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Looks good, wish I had more time to work on my '84. I actually did a little last night after arriving home from kids basketball game at about 10pm, if you were close by I would just parked it in your garage as you could probably not resist the temptation to start working on it lol!

LOL no dought, i love wrenching i do it for a living and never get bored. :)
I should ship you my'79 or390:lol:. It is in very nice shape but could use a little detailing, do you offer a cafe husky member discount? LOL.By the way, love the 500. I look forward to seeing the finished project!.

Thanks huskybear, you are much closer most. Canucks :)

Well diving in to the decompression valve mod

Got a spare head from Huskydogg just in case

I took the die grinder to the head, went hard drilled and cut threw a fin got down to a fairly good flat spot.

Drilled right in to her, thicker than i thought it might be.

Left a smaller hole than the one I tapped to 10x1

Valve pops up easy compared to the push down part the seal is great and was meant for a big Husky chain saw.

Not sure how well it will work, spring time will tell.

Also used a copper washer from a banjo bolt, the threads felt solid and got it goodntite..

Went there again and got it seated better, had no faith in the small threads in just the head.

So i added a tapered pipe thread in it for a brass seat. Tapped the inside brass to 10x1

Put tape around the tap and that kept it steady and straight.

Excellent find on the tank. Looks great. A little rattle can pinstriping, Hwy's tank protectors and mount it up.
Rest of scoot looks cool too.

Been trying to reach HWY, no luck.

Got a local guy that does decals for a living.
He is making me custom number plate decals on heavy white with pro circuit border and font and cool looking vintage 82 numbers all in 1 shot.
And some other cool decals from the past.
I saw the others he has done for race bikes & custom 1 off decals. Same great quality as HVA # plate backgrounds.

Got a few other things done on the bike.

Steve,
Just got a 82 MX Action off ebay with the Silver Streak test in it, never knew the 4 spd tranny had the
the same ratios as the 6 spd just without 1st & 6th gear. Of course the gears had larger face width
size as the cases are the same. Some nice comparsion pictures of the 430 & 500 top ends too, I'll
see if i can scan it . Got my juices flowing for one, even if i've got a 84 500CR.
Bike looks awesome so far

Thanks John!

Oh but i have that magazine and 3 others on the bike.

Owner had a few he let me scan and a friend gave me the other 2 from his old collection.

Custom decals are done and a few other things.

Changed the rear hoop to a 18 from 17" what a pain.

Got the muff mounted, side panels fitting nice so they don't rub the shocks or melt.

The bike is pretty much done and if I do any thing else, it would be some sexy front spokes.

Was saving a spot for a HVA decal, never got 1 last order though. lol
