• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Northwest Fall Gathering Round 2 - China Hat / Bend Oregon Oct 2011

Hey Coffee,
I owe you a beer or two - what do you drink? I can't remember what it was for but I remember telling you a couple of years ago that I would buy you a beer if you made it up this way. I'll be there Thursday late afternoon.
I'm not picky, though not a big fan of most lite beers..
Duh! Kahlua it is!
And not a big fan of the sweet stuff - whatever you normally consume would be fine, seriously don't put any effort into it.

I'll bring up some fire wood (trying to get rid of it).. best guess camping Thursday through Saturday (3 nights). Probably spend Wed night in Eugene/Salem/Bend area. I would like to check out Bills, atomic moto, and possibly Giant loop.

The district rep just re-confirmed Kris will be there, though I've not heard from Kris himself. Just thought I would post an update....

And it would still be great to get a decent photo person..

Jake will be there and I'll see if he will bring his nice camera.

Our troop won't be getting in until late Friday. So a Saturday morning photo op would be a good time and some of us will still be in one piece.

I get lost all the time. And that's part of the experience IMO

I have access to some nice Canon lenses, but dont have a sports camera though. Does anyone have a legitimate action based body?
If so, I've got the glass.

Wow...this thing is growing into a monster group ride! I'm really looking forward to seeing some old friends and others that I have only conversed with online.

I may be able to help out ? I just got a full plate at work today ( good thing) so travel time is limited. I am
going to check flights etc, would rather ride then take pics. 939 crop.jpg

I will bring my good camera, my good lens is an expensive paper weight now so my cheap lenses will have to do.

I am really not a people photographer, but I will do what I can.

Later,

What I am thinking of is a stationary person and people riding by a few times, so if you are coming bring what you have. No need to take the expensive camera equipment on uber tough rides where it might get damaged.

If you are coming up, please do bring the equipment.

Glad you are going to make it, it has been quite some time since I've seen you :)

He is a slacker! :D

Later,
:D

I will also bring my camera, D50 with long VR lens (which does not always work), Sigma ultra wide lens, and cheapie plastic lens for the middle range shots. My thought was to have several people taking pictures but am completely open to ideas.

I've been busy trying to make Husky look good.

On the trail a good little point and shoot works fine. No need to bust up good stuff if you are not getting
paid for it. I shoot 8 FPS D-2H with hand held 2.8 lenses, small files, quick to manage. The Nikons I have
are rugged as my Huskys.

D-2H yes, your glass will not work.

There is probably another tidbit that may be of interest..

The district rep just re-confirmed Kris will be there..

The District rep is an extremely nice guy named Jason Dahners, and after a bit of digging it seems he may know how to ride a bike (ISDE)... I hope someone can keep up with him, because I certainly can't...

hmm... Jake maybe? I've no idea who can ride fast.
