• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Pics of your 610!

Cool! I didn't know 606's came in 17". I've been running Cheng Shin 755's and they work great. The front is narrower than anything else I've found and acts more like a real dirt-sized knobby. Just put a set of Heidenau K73's on yesterday, can't wait to try them out. They are streetable rain tires with big blocks on the rear...should be interesting if nothing else :D
 
Busy doing some Carbon Fibre to my 610TE --Myself :) after a cam chain replacement at 30,000km

Yes i know the chain is a --tad --slack but i am fitting new rubber as well to the back --still planning to do some more carbon in the weeks to come --
 
Kind of a crazy question, but I have an '09 SM610, are the body panels interchangeable with a different model year? I want to switch my red/white to the graphite.

I think they've been the same since 06 with the exception of the back fender/plate holder piece that used to be one unit till the 08 model where they split it , the 08 are the same as the 09 for sure

2006-up SM610's take the same plastics. You can go gray, white/red, and yellow/blue in OEM plastics. Or mix 'em up like I did.

Of important note, though, is that there was a manufacturer change for the headlamp mask somewhere along the line. My 07 headlamp would fit in a gray mask off of an original 08 bike, but it would not fit in a *new* gray mask for an 08.

Quick question, the kickstand when I retract it really slaps the swingarm. Has anyone in stalled some sort of bumper to soften the blow? I would think this chatters going down the road too but I can't tell.

Looks great! I think I posted somewhere else, but if not that chatter you hear is the floating rear disc break.

K 73s huh? I bet those are a hoot for canyon carving and the sand will be extra fun..;)
I just put a K60 on the back of the 610 and can't decide what to put on the front.
Maybe a MotOZ desert HT:excuseme:

Those K73's were a total revelation! Better in the dirt than the MT60's and giving up nothing...and I mean nothing...on the pavement. As an added bonus, I did 500 miles of dirt, rocks, supermoto pavement and some high-speed stuff (Sonora and Monitor Passes) and they still look good! The MT60's would have been chewed all to hell. They K73's were cheaper, too. Can't wait to try them in the rain :D The close-up photos were after only a few miles.


Eric ran new K60 Scouts and loved them. Way better in the dirt than the Scorpions he was running and not giving up too much on pavement. The front brake on his 950 is more limiting than the tires he's running. We gotta do something about that.

The other neat thing (IMO) about the 950 size K60s is that they are radial.

I ran the MT60's two winters ago and LOVED them...They didn't care at all about crap on the road...Just so expensive...

Yeah, the K73's are about $50 cheaper per set. Still pricey, but they still look new after 500 miles. My last rear MT60 was cooked after 900 hard street miles :(

I need to get a better photo of them...
