As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!

Vandenberg AFB, right? Verrry cool.Another awesome sunday ride in my back yard!View attachment 34594View attachment 34595View attachment 34596View attachment 34597
If any of you guys are in the area and want to do a Sunday of exploring/riding on base LMK, I can sign you on and show you some cool stuff not may pepole have seen.Vandenberg AFB, right? Verrry cool.
Pic 1 - Is that a missile gantry? Yes, it is an old abandonded in place Atlas ICBM Gantry. There were 4 pads in this complex, only one with the gantry still standing. If you know someone that knows someone, you might find a hole in the fence to do some exploring.....
Pic 2 - Now you're just rubbing it in..
Pic 3 - Can you actually ride that big coastal sand bowl in Pic 3? I see breakers in the background. Can you ride the beach too? Pretty awesome huh, it had jsut rained a few days ago so there was a little moisture in the sand. You proably should not go right on the shore and flying down the beach, but you could prpobably get away with it. SFS on 4 wheelers would be the only one that could get out there and they are rarely out that far. There are a few areas I have ran into on base that are posted "Do not Enter, or No motor vehicles, but plenty that are not.
Pic 3 - That's my achingly beautiful Pacific ocean. This is a morning shot, yes? This was actually taken getting close to dusk, it is on the very top of point sal ridge. A firebreak trail that goes all the way along the north base ridge. I have had my Raptor up there two, some hariy narrow climbs and goregeous views. Check this pic out, this is part of the trail.
Man I'm envious.
Also, I've always wanted to see, first-hand, a big launch from VAFB.
Thanks for the pics, J.![]()
