• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Post up pictures of your vintage Husqvarna bikes!

Hello Baja 92
Yes, we want to know more about your Husky/KSI !!! :)
What are the motor differences between your HVA/KSI motor and the HVA motor ????
Thanks
Michel

I agree Duf! Is every other fin on the jug ground off? I thought the last year of the air cooled engines were in '85? Man that thing looks Wicked!

I loved the Day glow yellow on my '95 WXC610! Only problem was, it faded in the sunlight the first time I went riding, it was a two day trip to the Dez. Ditched it for the opptional White one imediately. Still going strong. You've got some very nice bikes!

Looks like it might have another manufactures forks on it? Now those are barkbusters! Great find:thumbsup:

Those Bark Busters are the genuine article, cool shox for sure. I've never seen a "banana" swingarm...on a Husky? It's got the VDO unit too? How cool is that!

A few more from the coolection.....

'87 CR250, a standout for me as it was the only Swedish model with a powervalve, and the WP forks are anodized silver, custom color for Husky.

'84 CR250, Two shocks + radiator. Can't recall any other watercooled MX twin shock bikes.

S6301033.JPG
'78 CR125....nothing special, just kinda neat and slooowww. Bought it from the original owner. Original front tire on it, only second rear since new.

Here is my first post! Picture of my 1982 CR430, set up with a new electronic ignition with flywheel weight, hydrolic Magura Jack clutch pull, Cyclera Bark Busters, and new bars! Set this bike up for vintage hare-scrammbles. Raced my first race and need to re spring the beast! Wanted to wheelie everywhere and bottom out everywhere! Enjoy

Ps Anyone know where I can get springs front and rear custom to my weight and ability?

Airing out the Flying Milk Truck '83 WR430 this weekend at a vintage ride/get together.
Great time with about 45 vintage bikes and a nice vintage friendly 12 mile loop and a short MX track. Also had the treat of riding with USA ISDE vetran Don Cutler who was on his actual race bike from the 1973 six days here in the USA. (An Ossa) He is still poetry in motion to watch especially in the tighter technical stuff!

Here's my '88 510 TE project, in as arrived condition. Correct parts on the way, to bring her back a little closer to OE appearance. Will post an updated pic shortly, with some correct cosmetic parts in place.

Really like that, looks tidy. Got one as a project a few weeks ago, currently giving it a full engine rebuild atm (that's hurt my wallet lol). Needs the seat recovered and a new rear mudguard, want one like the one in your pic, not to keen on mine tbh.

Here is my 390, finished and running at last. She is built from a modified 1980 XC frame and a 1979 OR engine. The rear loop has been removed and the extra tube under the engine has also been removed. Currently fitted with 36mm YZ front forks and M Robert mudguards. I am thinking of changing to 40 mm Husky forks on the front, although the YZ forks work quite well considering they are off a 125 originally.left side.JPGengine.JPG

What brand of shocks are those?

What brand of shocks are those?

They are 16.5 inch Ohlins shocks but obviously not the really expensive ones. I bought them fully serviced from the guy who runs HVA Factory in the UK, and I am sure they were fitted as original equipment to an Armstrong bike from the 80s. I think Armstrong were similar to Can-Am machines and were being built by CCM at the time, but don't quote me on that. The shocks are not as good as the high spec remote reservoir Ohlins shocks, but they were much cheaper and work fine for me.
