• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Post up pictures of your vintage Husqvarna bikes!

Thanks! very flattering. It's also the 2006 AHRMA Classic 125 Int Natl champ, Classic 125 NW champ & Classic 125 SW champ

My 1982 XC250

Well, I'm the happy new 3rd owner of this garage kept Husky. 2nd owner had this 1982 XC250 since around 1985. Occasionally used for trail riding in the 80's so he says. Considering it still has the original Pirelli front tire with significant tread left and original seat cover (no cracks or rips), figure he is telling the truth. Supposedly still standard bore, we'll see about that soon enough. The guy even had the original owners manual, sell sheet, tools, and the dealer's post-sale mechanic's completed check list and 30 day warranty card all in very nice condition.

Other than the tank, rear fender, missing swingarm chain protector and after market silencer, looks to be in remarkably good condition and runs as good as it looks.

I remember riding my old Suzuki TM 125 around the deserts and mountains around Tucson, Az back in the early '80's and always wanting a Husky, so 30 some years later, here it is.

Not going to do full restoration, just a good cleanup, some new paint, suspension improvements etc this next year. Already picked up a suitable used and dented (but repairable) '82 husky tank. Current tank looks more like Dakar Rally equipment. Then going to have fun riding with my son who is getting his first bike for Christmas.

Looking forward to leaning on the extensive expertise in all things vintage husky that can be found amongst the members here at Cafe Husky!

Adam

Agreed, the tank will go. I picked up a tank already, but need to find someone capable to do some repair work. Not sure if I want to do orignal colors, black with gold trim around the polished aluminum panels.

I don't recall which member here did it, but I saw an '83 500 with a bare aluminum tank with some husky decals that looked great, may do the same think since I'm going to ride and probably do some vintage racing. No need for super nice paint when it will proabably just get scratched up in short order.

Here is one I bought for the museum. It has a 1979 New Jersey plate on it. The guy bought it one year old from the dealer. It has a steel front rim but he said that is the way he got it. Never said anything about breaking springs or starting issues. It got a new piston every year they were cheap he said. Won two class championships on it not sure exactly what that means. It is sitting on a pail of Texaco fluid. My apologies if I posted it earlier. It started and pulled forward though I haven't ever rode it. There seems to be some automatic interest lately.

Ya, those rear shocks are probably worth as much as you paid for the whole bike. Nice find! Love that "groovy" swingarm.
